Title: Glad I move out of Alabama
Post by: Amykins on April 29, 2011, 12:57:21 PM
The horse ranch I lived on and worked on there in Ohatchee Alabama is now gone. Utterly destroyed. The people I worked with and knew there have nothing left but the shirts on their backs.

I talked with one of them this morning, Retta, her house is gone, all her dogs are gone, the entire street was wiped out next to where I`d lived, and the bodies of a couple who lived on Eagle Cove Rd. there were found in a lake two miles away.

The motorhome that was next to where I lived in my little trailer was thrown some distance and landed upside down, so I'd have been dead if I'd still been there.

I've watched some videos on YouTube of the devastation there this morning. Absolute nightmare, complete devastation, all the places I knew when I lived there destroyed.

The barn I worked in destroyed, some of the horses killed. My favorite horse made it, and he`s going to live in Georgia now, but my friends lost all they had, and I don`t know what they are going to do now.

I am glad you made Amy.  So many did not.  And of course I know we have a few members in that area.

Terrible tragedy, Amy.  I feel for all those affected by this disaster.  I hope you are doing fine.

The 5W horse ranch was wiped out there in Ohatchee. The owner is planning to rebuild, but I don't know. I've called my friends back there since and they are all okay, though two of the horses in the barn were killed.

Those horses were friends of mine that I took care of every day. I am just thankful that more were not killed. There were 28 stalls in that barn, and horses in probably 22 of them. Noah, my favorite and beloved friend made it and will be going to live in Georgia I am told.

All the houses on Eagle Cove Rd. above the ranch were wiped out. I don't know what became of the horses out in the paddocks when the tornado hit. I'm afraid to find out.
