Title: stopping hormones to get surgery
Post by: RyGuy on May 06, 2011, 11:18:08 PM
for those of you who have had surgery, it's pretty common to have to stop hormones like two weeks before and one to two weeks after. since they say some changes can reverse (like fat distribution, etc) if you choose to stop hormones, did any of you notice some backtracking? how much "damage" did not being on hormones for a month do? would you say you lost progress or not?

I have a friend who ran out of hormones for a few weeks, and he didn't say anything about a noticeable reversion. But I'm sure he continued to work out, so his situation is not quite comparable to someone who stops hormones for three weeks and has to drastically curtail physical exertion during that time.

I would be more worried about psychological effects, myself. But I have problems with depression--that's why I inject weekly instead of biweekly.

Don't think you will notice any effects other than maybe a little on the emotional side. The benefits outweigh any risks in terms of surgery as you want to avoid anything that may cause excess bleeding and lead to complications.
