Title: Strapons and whatnot
Post by: N.Chaos on May 18, 2011, 02:35:58 AM
Anyone have reviews, suggestions, anything?

Ben's a lot more supportive of this than Julie was, but that kind of freedom is kind of...scary? Overwhelming? He's not pressuring me, he's just...he knows me. He knows I can be an idiot and not try things, even if I want 'em. He told me to just wad up a sock, stick it down my pants and see how it felt. I said in another post, it felt normal. He gave me a bit of a "Well, duh, of course it does" response which led to this whole conversation about strapons and double-sided dildos.

Sorry if this is completely indecipherable, I'm tired as hell and really out of it for some reason, my anxiety is bugging me awful lately.

What I really want to find is anything similar to the feeldoe that doesn't cost so goddamn much? I've got one of the double-ended bendy ones from when me and Julie were dating and the thing was just a massive pain to try and use.

My experience is that a good strap & dildo cost around $100 a piece.   My suggestion is you buy one of the cheap strap on that run around $35 and Vixen is what I have for a dildo they are a bit more spendy but my experience is they look and feel more realistic - my partner picked it out and she said it feels the most realistic - we were at a store feeling a wide variety of them.   I used the cheap strap on for about 3 months - and we knew it was the right thing for me - made our sex lives much better b/c I wasn't disphoric after.  So, I upgraded my harness to a leather one that is nothing there kind of thing -- very thin and it was even better - alot of the times I forget I have a harness on - totally helps me feel like I have the real deal.

My feelings about this is to think of it as an investment. You can buy something made of jelly or cyberskin (for example). Both materials are fairly inexpensive, porous (carry disease), and cannot be easily cleaned. In my experiences they smell bad and rip/tear easily. For me, if I were to buy a cyberskin or jelly toy it wouldn't be very safe to use and would be completely unusable in a year (depending on how often I have sex). If I go for a silicone one it's non-porous, can be easily cleaned, is more expensive, smells alright, and doesn't rip as easily. A silicone one will last much longer but is more expensive.

Same idea with harnesses. Some materials are more comfortable and easier to clean than others. Also, depending on what company it's from could put it under warranty where if it breaks they will repair it for free. I have the spareparts joque harness. It's machine washable, very adjustable, and vegan. You don't need different O rings because it has an O-ring that is elastic. I also have terra firma which is a leather harness. It can't be used in the shower, must be hand washed, you have to buy O rings for different sized dicks....and the straps cut into my skin.

If you're looking for something that looks really nice you might want to check out Aslan Leather (http://www.aslanleather.com/)

Awesome, thanks both of you. Realism isn't too important, I'll only screw in the dark anyway. There's an adult outlet nearby where I live, would they have stuff (at least harnesses and whatnot) there or am I definitely better buying offline?

I would say go to figure out what they have and see if you can find reviews online of what they have. Write down names n stuff.

Sounds good to me, compare and contrast and whatnot. It's not like I'm in some mega-rush or anything lol.
