Who benefits from all this activism and advocacy?  How does "blank" help me?

The argument against anyof this stuff I see most common comes down to something not too dissimilar from a comment pointed at me on a facebook page:

    "The point you are now missing is not everyone needs help or to be taught anything. You talk of reaching out to all trans people but not all of us need it. Outside of the LGBT sphere, I've had virtually no trouble since I went full time in Nov. Seriously, nobody out in public or in my life gives a crap. They know I'm in the midst of a transition to be socially and physically female and they're cool with it. Even the rednecks. Maybe that's because they see me as a girl instead of a "trans." Why would someone who transitioned years ago even want you or anyone to "reach them." They are women, not "trans" and probably want to be left the f*** alone. They don't want to be outed and othered. I'm a woman with a TS medical condition I'm receiving medical treatment for. Don't call me "trans" or "transgender." I'm going to get an F on my ID, not a T."

Now, the person who wrote this — their name and all that — doesn't matter.  It isn't about the person.
