Hello,
My name is Julya, I am a recently semi-out trans-woman. Many of you may have already read my wife's introduction... She is Sowisa on here. Where to begin... At the beginning I presume. So, I have had a proclivity for things feminine since I was three or four. I was raised in a rural mindset (though a lot of it was in the city), and was heavily discouraged in my feminine presentation. It took me twenty-seven years, and the support of my beautiful wife to finally express myself as my whole self. Just in case your math is off, that puts me at thirty. I am currently in therapy, and my therapist said that she would have no issues approving me for hormones after one session, we'll just have to get the necessary info to put on the forms. So in reality the when is up to me. However, I would like to start some hair removal before I start HRT, so it will probably be in a couple of months or so... I have used otc/online hormones in the past, and know their effect on me (at least for the duration of 9-10 months...) I have already purchased the necessary packages for full face laser hair removal (with a Lightsheer Duet Doctor operated machine), I just need to set the appointment (I bought them as, "groupon" type deals, and saved 75%). The budget for this is very tight and we will be gluttons for how to effectively transition for as little as possible w/o compromising quality. All of our closest family, and friends know, save those longer than a day-trip drive away... I am out to my Director of Human Resources and General Manager at work; my GM as it turns out has helped someone else transition when at a property in Atlantic City (we are in Denver, by the way...). Throughout life my wife and I have had many GLBT friends and family, but currently find ourselves without many"T's", or SO's of T's with which to congregate. I would go to our local center, but I work very long hours, and have very little time to get life's necessities attended to; let alone time to go bonding with new people (nice as it would be at times...). So, here I am... And, I'll be reading many other posts and commenting/posting when I can.
Hi Julya, :icon_wave:
Welcome to our little family. Over 6900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.
Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams. Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.
But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

Hello! Welcome. 8)
Welcome, Julya. You are blessed indeed to have wife who is supportive of your transition. Do remember that it is HER journey, too, and that she will have need of support along the way.
There is a link in our Links Area (Bottom of the Main Page) that can be very helpful for SOs. That is the very active TransFamily Spouses-only news list.
If you go to the bottom of the Main Page and search on TransFamily, you'll find the link.

Hi Julya, welcome to Susans! It's great when a team shows up here, everyone can learn from both of you. See you around, hugs, Tracey
Thank you all for the warm welcome! I count my blessings everyday that my wife is going through this journey with me. And, am very supportive of the process that she'll be on as well. I look forward to many laughs, cries, introspection, and resolve through these pages.
I'm new here myself Julya, but feel a little better just being here. Welcome. And yes you are so lucky to have the support of your SO. I dont have that but I feel a storm brewing in the not to distant future. Hugs, Lana B.
Lana,
If there is a storm a-brewin' on your horizon; know that I will help be an umbrella for you. It is always hard losing support, but take shelter in knowing there are plenty ready to help in the clean-up... And, once the storm has passed clearer skies WILL return; eventually.
Hi Julya. Welcome. I am also new here and a fellow Coloradan. I've just joined this site but have been visiting for months. I really like it and I'm sure you will too. You are sooo lucky to have an understanding wife. Good luck with your journey.
Thank you Julie (I like the name by the way ;)). It is nice to know that I have some geographic neighbors here as well. I am a member of a couple of different forums, but this one is by far the most busy, and supportive one that I am a member of. Don't get me wrong the others are supportive to an extent, but there is a serious lag in response time on posts, and there are some on those other sites that seem to placate more than just be; if you know what I am trying to say... There is not a day that goes by that I don't thank the online dating site where my wife and I met, for there would be no way I could have the confidence to be where I am without her. ...All things in their proper time and place...
