That's looking pretty good! ;D Might have to give that technique a try; gods know I need to start getting some exercise.
I was 25 pounds underweight when i started HRT 5 months ago, so I worked hard to gain the weight by eating about 5,000 calories a day for two months. Like you, I have difficulty gaining and keeping weight. I actually hit my target weight, but lost 5 pounds when I went back down to about 2,500 calories. I was hoping that the weight would go to my breasts (er... what breasts?) but instead it all went to belly and butt. Now I have cute little hips, but I'm still too light on top.

You can combine exercise with your diet to avoid getting weight on your belly =)

Just any cardio to lose fat, and then ab exercises to build muscle in your stomach. Just make sure you are taking in a lot of calories, exercising burns a ton =)
YouTube some ab exercises, or just go running

Haha yes, I am her =)
Ugh I have that same problem =( I was 5'8 115 lbs for the last year, and I'm finally up to 120... but according to my doctor I need to be about 135. I think if I could gain the weight then it would go to my butt and boobs. I've been doing 3000 calories a day for a month and a half now and I'm up to 120... but I will lose the weight like you as soon as I stop drinking my shakes =( I remember many many years ago (before transitioning) I was put on anti-depressents, and I actually gained almost up to 140 lbs and my butt got so much bigger. I forced myself off of them though, and have been declining in weight ever since =(

Quote from: AmySmiles on June 02, 2011, 05:18:02 PMGet ankle weights and get on all fours. Kick one leg up in the air (push with your heal). Then do the same exercise except cross your leg over your other leg on the way down. Then extend one leg completely straight, flex your foot and lift the whole leg up... then do the same exercise except cross over your other leg on the way down. They are simple and effective, I'll probably have to find you a YouTube video though because I doubt my explanation makes much sense =)
Have any suggestions for good exercises for the whole area? :) I was doing light leg and hip exercises for several months but lost the inspiration to do it because I wasn't seeing any results. Perhaps I will start again, this thread has inspired me.

I find it hard to believe exercise will increase size laterally, hence balancing out broad shoulders. Ive been cycling a lot and despite it making my butt more rounder in terms of z-axis (a good deal of fat as well as strong underlying muscle) it still remains to only extend as far as my hips + 1cm of fat along the x-axis.
Sorry I lack vocabulary to describe it any better.

Haha thank you :) I think I get what you're saying, I'm just not sure whether you're supposed to be facing up or down. I guess I'll go searching too. <3

Either way its worth an attempt. Just deciding whether to do side-lunges or stuff yourself with pizza, whatevers easier.

I have sort of a similar problem. I can't gain fat on my legs and butt, it all still goes to my waist. I'm really hating the fact that if I want hips compared to my waist I have to be cut and defined all over.

Both of these are pretty common concerns for girls of all sizes and ages, trans or not. However, it seems to be sorta hard to find a solution, or answer, aside from having surgery =(
I am definitely one that suffers from having no butt... not only is it not in my genetics to have a big butt, but my genetics also don't allow me to store much fat on my body (which can be key for growing a butt).
Anyway, there is a solution to these problems =) It seems that lots of people grossly underestimate the power of exercising. It is very possible to build up a decent butt and to grow some hip size with just working out your lower body. Since your butt is made up of fat and muscle, it makes sense that building up the muscle in your butt will give you a bigger, rounder, more shapely butt. Just imagine a ballerina, a martial artist, a yoga instructor... all these people have nice butts and hips because of the muscle they've built up in them.
Also, building up the muscles in your thighs, around your butt and in your quads will also help with hip size and curves. Not to mention, the easiest solution to getting the appearance of bigger hips is just to get a smaller waist (cardio and ab exercises)... and a way to diminish broad shoulders for your frame is getting bigger hips and a butt.
Not only will working out your leg, butt and ab muscles give you a more curvy figure, but it will also give you more control over your hips... since moving your hips requires the use and control of your ab muscles.
The ideal solution to the biggest butt possible is to use heavy weights (going to the gym, leg presses, squats, lunges, dead lifts, etc...), but you can also get pretty dramatic results from home too with ankle weights. I bought one of those programs that comes on infomercials at like 2 am (Brazil Butt Lift) to test it out and see if it worked for me. The program is difficult at first, but it totally works. I'm about to finish week 8, and the difference I've noticed is pretty dramatic. There are several different programs like this that are dedicated to building your butt, or you can just look up exercises on YouTube. However, I just liked the idea of a program so I'd get into a routine... and the program I bought focuses on abs and legs too. I'm sorta at a point where I need to buy a gym membership to get more butt growth, but i'm terrified of my parts coming out of my shorts =).... so I will just try to maintain what I have at my house, or either buy some baggy sweat pants for the gym =P
Anyway, here is what I have achieved from sticking by this program. I mean, I'm definitely no 7 of 9 (my friend recently turned me onto Star Trek: Voyager), but I am happy with what I am achieving, and I feel a lot better about myself and my figure.

Quote from: VannaSiamese on June 04, 2011, 02:38:10 AMMaca root? Let me google a bit :)
You could try doing cardio, ab workouts and leg workouts.... the ab workouts will tone your waist line up, the leg workouts will give you bigger muscles. There is an herb called MACA root which is suppose to have really good effects on women in regulating their hormones and weight distribution. A large majority of women report gaining weight in their butt and thighs because of this herb, which also causes a lot of women to avoid taking it. I've never tried it, but it's very inexpensive (like $10 a bottle)... I just don't know about the effects of it with an artificial hormone source... as opposed to actually having ovaries. You should do some reading up on it =)
