Title: The doc wants to follow radiation with chemo
Post by: iris1469 on June 04, 2011, 11:37:22 AM
i was really hoping that this would not be the case! i am losing the hair in the place that the radiation passes through my head...chemo will take all my hair.  they took another picture of my brain and have told me that I am getting great results from radiation. I have no choice but to believe them because they are genuinily excited! now i am  wondering if the chemo will rid me of ALL facial hair! this might be worth it. if my facial hair disappears completely and doesnt come back, then im down to lose the hair on my head too (as long as that hair comes back)

i feel and look like crap, b ut the weirdest thing is happening, i am getting less sir's than ever. lol

My electrologist told me a story of a woman who stopped seeing her awhile back because she fell ill with cancer she met up with her in the supermarket one day obviously recovering from chemo (she had some head hair) and she attested that it sorted out ALL her hair problems. including the facial hair issue thus she didn't need to go anymore, So that seems positive.

I'm not certain about it not coming back, It's alittle unpredictable... I know of one translady.
Urrr *looks for link* here

She lost her hair from Chronic Myeloid Leukimia (Blast Crisis stage), She attests that neither her facial hair or head hair grew back properly however I'm pretty sure that when I spoke to her about her story in particular that phenominon was linked to the doctors ->-bleeped-<-ing up her dosages BIG style and nearly killing her.

That is why wigs are so big business.  Get a few good ones, so you can switch off and no one will know. :)

The rad will make you loose your hair all over your head and eyebrows and lashes and reduce the growth of your beard.  None of this is permanent, the hair in your head, eyebrows, lashes, and beard will return to the previous levels.

Chemo will not affect hair grow anywhere, it will give you diarrhea, anorexia, and nausea, get some medical marihuana to combat the nausea and anorexia.

Hi Nicole,

It might sound crazy, but the fact that they want to follow up with chemo is very good news.

My birth sister Ann, went through the same horror when she got breast and bladder cancer. Lost her hair >:(. It grew back as perfect blonde ??? Not a nice way to change the hair style but we do what we can. Hang in honey. Make sure that the people know that you want some (lots) of female pampering. Getting you nails done, facials etc. you are a normal woman who needs to be treated like one, be vocal.

Hugs

Cindy

Like Cindy said , sounds bad but is a good sign.
I have a friend who had all her hair grow back lots thicker than before, so it isn't a total disaster.
Thinking of you sis.
Karen.
