Dear Pema:Tomorrow is Monday, July 7th ... the day that you interface with your mother.
I trust and hope that the conversation goes well and everyone stays calm and respectful.
Along with your other followers and readers, I will eagerly be looking for your update.

Thank you, Anni. I love the new avatar with the orange lilies.
The house is as clean as ever, and we're as ready as we're going to be.

We are in another heat wave, so I got up before sunrise to do stuff in the yard before it got warm!
I had a Trader Joe's waffle heated up my a toaster for breakfast and Trader Joe's dumplings for dinner. I made my own dipping sauce for the pork gyoza. I should make dipping sauce more often as I can make it while the dumplings reheat in the frying pan.
The dumplings are fully cooked in a supply chain with no middleman so I'd feel comfortable eating them without cooking if we had a power outage. Last time we had a prolonged outage I ate everything in the refrigerator! It is likely that the turnover of food in the West Hartford store is very high. It doesn't sit around to spoil from bacteria.
Got the golf outfit via UPS yesterday. The Skort and pants fit just fine.
I found that playing golf lowers my BP and raises my heart rate.

I found it very helpful to talk to my wife about transitioning. Setting some ground rules about what you can and can't do will do a lot to relieve the stress on your relationship. My wife would offer her perspective on what it was like growing up female in California.

I envy your worldliness, Tills, and enjoy your travelogues. I enjoyed a quasi-nomadic lifestyle most of my working years as a grant writer for indigenous nations throughout the western US (a wee bit broader than Thoreau's: I have travelled extensively throughout Lexington and Concord, but negligible in comparison to your own). For the last decade of my migrant life, I lived out of a blue, 1990 Grand Am (not quite a rucksack but close).
