Police version on transgendered's harassment `false, not trustworthy' 🔗 [Link: hindu.com/2007/02/27/stories/2007022717390400.htm/]CHENNAI : An inquiry at the level of District Judge, ordered by the Madras High Court, into alleged sexual atrocities committed on a teenaged transgendered person at Vyasarpadi police station, has found four policemen, including two sub-inspectors, guilty. "Sampath and Chinna Pandi, both Sub-Inspectors of Police, and Kumar and Ravi, both constables, were the persons who caused the harassment to Pandian," the inquiry report has concluded.
Unable to bear the sexual harassment and intimidation by police, Pandian committed self-immolation in front of the police station on June 12, 2005. He succumbed to burn injuries on June 29, 2006.
