There are a LOT of flakes on Craigslist.
Very "cheap" people, who aren't happy unless you give them the item, and $10 for their time.
The best luck I've had is by selling something for about 1/3rd of what it goes for new (assuming it's in "like new" condition), letting the voicemail take all messages, then screening the cheapos/deadbeats out and selling to the first one who says, "I have the money in hand, will pick it up tonight".
EBay is better, but like you said, a hassle (and I have everything already set up, too! LOL) Maybe there is a local "I'll sell your stuff on EBay!" business which can help you out?
