Ridiculed by drunks at StayBridge reception tonight

OK so I'm in Chicago for my FFS/BA and am staying at the staybridge. Each morning at breakfast there has been a clump of sales drones.  I always notice them and ignore because even before I was out I viewed them as parasitic leeches (please not there ARE good sales people and I'm not condemning you all). Each morning they have given me the eye for the gall to be in their zone. Even though it is the hotel's dining area.

So today I was on cloud nine because Dr Z unveiled my nose. I've also felt great for more of the day. So I was really looking forward to grabbing a lite snack and then using the fire as a medication focus.

No sooner than I walk in was I pegged. Yes I have obvious breast now and clearly a woman's blouse, but I also look like crap still from the recovery and have more stubble than I'd otherwise be seen dead with, but I can't shave for a few more days. Evidential they had been hitting the free booze because the hate started flowing right away. I ended up having to sit a place without a view of the fire. They never directly said hey you or threw anything, but those were some of the most hurtful words I've heard yet. Eventually thy decided off on Chaz and wondered what was so special about 'her'. When I finally finished what I had on a non removalable plate I just grabbed a handful of cheese filled breadsticks and left.

What was going to be a deep spiritual moment of reflection and thanks (the spirit of fire has ALWAYS as far back as i remember been the first of the divines servants to offer aid) was ruined by fear anger and hostility.

Ah, pay no mind to them and certainly do not allow them to ruin your stay.  You're there because of a special reason most worthy of celebration; stay on cloud nine and never allow someone else the chance to even remotely discourage you or change that awesome mood you were in.  You've got every right to be who you are and feel on top of the world... them.

If I may,  you say they said some of the most hurtful words.  Since you are in recovery from your surgery I would suggest you tell someone those words and let others know what they said. I fear they will hold a bit of power over you.

Just an FYI  drunk people are jerks when they are drunk.  So forgive them.  They probably thought they were being adorably funny.

I got in fights when I was under the influence of various substances. I've had to deal with many a drunk at my old job too.

It is also Dr Z's most recommended hotel. The staff are awesome and totally respectful with pronouns and titles.  They let Lisa Lopez (one of Dr Z's (and my) recommended caregivers) store some of her med gear there. Normally there are several Z patients there but right now it is just three and I leave tomorrow to be replace by a forum regular here.

As others have said don't let these small brained jerks get to you. You have more courage, more strength, and more understanding in your toe nail clippings than they have in there collective persona.

I'm doing better now because I was able to go back to the room and before my kids bedtime we had a giant FaceTime session.   Being able to see them and talk to them was really helpful. Getting to see Shannon's hackles rise just help reinforce the absurdity since I have her to go home to later today and generally that style of salespeople doesn't.

I'm not still up because if anger, but rather it ws time for my night meds (actually I expect a call in the morning complaining) from one of the neighboring rooms since my alarm rang almost a full hour before I wore up and turned it off

When I'm in the Bay Area I tend to stay out of the city, either near Burlingame, or in Palo Alto - depends on the reason for the trip.

It seems to me that people are having their empathy and 'common' decency ground out of them by society.  Sure, these salespeople would sell anything to you.  A commission is a commission, after all. 

Ask them show you at least a modicum of respect or politeness outside of a sales environment?  Sorry, you're not a potential client.  We don't care.  You're a non-person.  Lowered inhibitions from alcohol certainly don't help the matter, either.

Sorry, I'm a bit frustrated with humanity and using far too many generalities, I'm sure.
