Has anyone changed your name? I'm doing a name change in SC and I had to send a fingerprint card in to the state with other forms and they are suppose to send paper work back for me to get a court date. It's been several months and I haven't gotten anything. I know they have to send the fingerprint card to the FBI but it shouldn't take months should it?

I have not done a name change, but if they're using the fingerprint cards for an FBI background check, that can take months.

I'd contact the office and ask. It really shouldn't take all that long. Things do get lost, forgotten about, sent to the wrong address, etc. quite frequently in government offices, so calling won't hurt the matter at all.

Prints can take a while if they are ink cards. I have had to submit prints for a number of things and it varied from slow to fast. For immigration they were the slowest.
But I am surprised that they can't do this electronically now. I've done it electronically in 3 states (FL, NJ, TX) via a livescan type of machine. The prints come back very quickly like almost the same day.
