"Sao Paulo Brazil Street vendor Luiz Carlos Ruas, 54, died Sunday evening after coming to the defense of two transgender women. Witnesses say Luiz Carlos Ruas came to the aid of a transgender women who was being attacked by two men outside of a Sao Paulo Subway station Sunday night."

The two men were part of a gang noted for killing transgender persons.  At the Day of Rememberence event here I noted the high numbers of deaths in Brazil, far more than even in the United States.

God bless him!  Truly a hero; he deserved much better than to die in that way.  This is so heartbreaking and I can only hope that I would have the immense courage to do the same.
