Is it possible to get letters of approval for an orchi without being on any HRT?

I don't know where you are but, in Ontario, a year on HRT is required for any surgery.  However, there has been some mention here about a Dr. in Michigan who will do it on informed consent.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

Hi Jane, welcome to Susan's Place! If you're paying for it yourself, probably. If you're going through insurance, they'll probably follow WPATH guidelines and rrqire a referral letter, a therapist letter, and a psychologist letter. The only way to know for sure is contact the surgeon.

See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

Thanks for the info. I'm in Ontario as well. My work situation doesn't allow me to be out and I'm afraid if I start HRT I will pass the point of no return re work. I am fully out with everyone else however and live full-time except for work.

Actually, I fired from the hip a bit on that one, only addressing the letters issue. You absolutely don't want to be without one sex hormone or the other.

How do you mean?  With our human rights laws, they can't do anything.

I'm a self-employed contractor. I'm afraid I'll be frozen out of jobs if I come out to them.

So glad someone pointed this out.. Being with no primary sex hormone, either E or T, is a rapid trip to osteoporosis and a number of other issues.
This is not medical advice. Always consult your doctor.

Hi Jane,                04 January 2019

The doctor in Michigan is Dr. Marc Arnkoff; he is located in Southfield, Michigan. You can Google him for additional information. Last year when I  talked to him, he said he would do an orchiectomy on an informed consent letter. He will also let you have your family jewels.

Someone on Susan's Place posted her experience with a bilateral inguinal orchiectomy done by Dr. Arnkoff in his office under local anesthesia. I didn't bookmark the posts so I have no way of pointing you to the thread. It was an interesting read.

Needless to say, I had mine done here in Plano, (Dallas Texas) Texas by Dr. Peter Raphael. I had a radical, bilateral inguinal orchiectomy done by Dr. Raphael. Basically it was painless, with minor discomfort for the first two days that was handled by 6 Tylenol tablets. That was done Friday April the 13th 2018.

The two little scars are almost impossible to see. Don't let the name of this procedure scare you. it is actually the least traumatic of the three methods commonly used and is the best because it allows the complete removal of the spermatic cord thereby eliminating the need for a long non-dissolvable cord hanging down into the scrotum. Google this procedure to learn more about it.

Hope this helps.

Best Always, Love
Christine
