Hi all,
I'm a 17, almost 18 year old FTM transgender man, and I'm fairly certain that I have body dysmorphia, or something along the lines of it. I have had problems with excessively monitoring my weight, restricting intake, etc. This, however, is more of a question along the lines of "how can I help myself accept my weight?"
Because I can't do a lot of physical activity (health reasons), it's really difficult for me to lose any kind of weight. I'm around 192 lbs and I'm 5 foot 1 inch. A lot of the time, I think that I cant pass just because of how freaking short I am! That, however, is something I can't do a lot about, other than wearing 4 inch platforms....
:embarrassed: Before anyone says it, yes, I have tried actual dieting, and it doesn't go well for me. Food is one of the very few things in life that I get to enjoy, as I am living in a very bad situation right now and sometimes a man just really needs some chicken nuggets from McDonalds. A lot of people see having a bit of pudge as cute, but I would rather not be "cute," as I don't really associate being short and fat as masculine. My thighs are big, my hips are big, and my chest is bigger than I would like it to be (I bind, GC2B half tank.) My boyfriend, who is also trans, says that I am fine the way that I am. Is there any way for me to pass better when I have such large thighs/hips/etc? I'm sure I'm not the only guy out there with this problem.

I do not know your medical issues, however, a common misconception is that someone must do anaerobic mixed with cardio workouts or even HIIT workouts to lose weight.

The best way to lose extra pounds is powerlifting. https://rippedbody.com/novice-powerlifting-program/

How you dress may help.  I'd suggest getting a men's what to wear or fashion book for what will help you look better.  It may  even be worth spending the money for tailoring, as men to get to wear the same things more often.

You are aware that women often try to squeeze into clothes a size too small and men typically wear the next size up if between sizes?

There are a couple of approaches you can take to control your weight. The first would be portion control. I eat most of my meals at home so I freeze meals of the proper size. When eating out, you can ask for a take home box and remove what you shouldn't eat before you start eating. Whats in the box could make another dinner or lunch so you're not wasting anything. When you diet, it's important to eat foods you enjoy eating. If you don't, you will be temped to cheat so eat foods you enjoy, just control how much and how often you eat them.

The second thing is to exercise. I understand you have physical limitations however even walking at a comfortable pace will help burn off calories. Start out with a short walk and increase the distance when you feel you can handle it.

That is good advice.  Toss what you don't like.
I measure out my food with an inexpensive digital scale.

An accurate scale is the secret for cooking things in small quantities.  Flour is hard to measure by volume.

I'm about your size. A little bit taller.

We are all born with different body types. I have pretty normal hips but huge chest and a beer belly...

I'm losing weight to access treatment. In Sweden you have to be under BMI 30.

I eat a lot of vegetables and fruit. Small sizes of regular food. Use a small plate. Avoid fatty food and candy and sodas and other food with excessive amount of sugar or fat. I walk about one hour every day.
