Sounds like a very good plan to me. Ultimately it's about you feeling comfortable and then able to normalize being out as your true self. Possibly you start somewhere secluded but then venture towards a few people then more and your confidence grows.
It's a very personal thing I'd say. Most people I think do what you plan and take it slowly, build confidence. But I kinda enjoyed the risk somehow...pushing boundaries, seeing reactions. But I'm nuts so not a good basis for most people! I just boymoded with full facial and arm hair in pink dresses...at work...out and about etc. It was very bold, I didn't care!
