Hi!

      Welcome Michelle!

Chrissy
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

A pleasure to meet you, Michelle!

Hi Michelle Kate

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you as well.

I'm really happy you found this site, also I love your enthusiasm.  You are never too old to explore what feels right for you, especially when it's bringing you comfort and happiness.

It's also completely okay to take your time.  There's no rush to decide anything.  You get to go at the pace that feels safest, calmest, most true to you.

And yes, hormones can bring a real sense of peace.  I know that when I started taking them, the constant longing or wanting to be a female went away completely, it felt like my mind finally got to rest.

As for the DC, Maryland, Virginia area, unfortunately I don't know anyone there so I can't help much with local connections.  Okay, I'm being funny here, I live in Australia.

I really hope you find a few friendly people nearby to hang out with.  Wishing you warmth, good company, plenty of joy on this path you're on.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Please keep in mind when posting that this is an ALL AGES PUBLIC Forum and the internet never forgets.  Do not post anything that you do not want to be made public.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always

Hi Michelle Kate. I'm so you're here! I'm 64 and considering HRT as I read story after story about many success stories from people in their 60s like me. I'm across the country but I look forward to hanging out in here with you.

Hi Michelle Kate,

Welcome. I'm an Aussie, relatively new here, and thia site has blown my mind.

The internet had me believe that crossdressing and transgender issues were for the young ones.

It seems something changes for a lot of us more, ahem, mature ones.

I thought I had burried this part of my life but now on the precipice of turning 60 it has coming screaming back like never before.

I look forward to seeing more of your story and experiences

Ciara

Hi Michelle Kate,

Welcome ❤️.

Ciara.
I don't have a gender issue.
I love being a girl.

So glad you are here. I'm jealous in a good way you started estradiol. I'm wanting to but not yet.
I don't know anyone in you immediate area. Just being here you will find friends from all over the world. We are a chatty bunch and will listen.
The good times are ahead

Hi Michelle Kate — you've already gotten a wonderful welcome from the crew, so I won't pile on except to say I'm glad you're here too, and three months into the patch and loving it is a genuinely beautiful place to be.

The one thing I noticed nobody could quite help with is the actual question you asked — finding people in the DMV — mostly because half the folks who answered turned out to be in England and Australia! So let me point you somewhere real.

The best way to meet people from the community is a local in-person peer support group, and the DMV has a good number of them.

The most useful single resource I can give you is Maryland Trans*Unity's resource page, which keeps an up-to-date list of groups across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, plus affirming healthcare and more:

A few in-person groups from that list worth knowing about:

Groups like these are really the heart of it — vetted, welcoming, and built exactly for finding your people, which beats trying to connect with strangers one-on-one online. Meeting times and locations do shift now and then, so it's always worth checking a group's page before heading out.

And here on the forum: you'll be able to send and receive private messages once you reach 15 posts — that's a safety feature, not a snub — and the Discord (linked from the Home page) is the quickest way to chat with members in real time while you find your local footing.

I hope this helps!
