Nowadays it is a different story, with drones and IR and stuff.
And yes, I did rethink.

@Finally Anna
Dear Anna:Based on the description of your Army duty I am guessing that you had spent some
of your Alaska time at
Fort Wainwright near Fairbanks and/or also possibly
at
Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson near Anchorage.
While I was in the Air Force, I was on and off for several months performing a temporary
tasks at
Elmendorf for the Air Education and Training Command coming from where I originally
was at
Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
While there I had made some Army friends there that were eventually posted at
Wainwright.
I enjoyed my various times in Alaska so much that once I was got out of the Air Force
and started my civilian career as an CPA/Accountant for a multi-state company... and then
when an opportunity to move to Alaska to start my own business in January 2017, I jumped at it.
Where I live now in Alaska I love the extreme swings in seasons and temperatures during
the year, including long days and short nights in the summer and short days and long nights
in the winter.
Quite a change from what I was accustomed to in Texas.
I am enjoying reading your comments and thoughts in your
"Finally Anna" Blog and your various
postings around the Forum.
