A leading DJ on BBC Radio one (The National Station in the UK) has been reported to the police for a transphobic hate crime.

Chris Moyle's has in the past had outspoken views regarding the GLBT community and a few weeks ago introduced a character called "->-bleeped-<- Rachel" into his Radio 1 show. The character has an electronicaly altered voice, which is a cross between male and female.

There have been a number of complaints to the BBC regarding this incident and one TS Woman has complained to the Metropolitan Police, as Transphobic hate crimes are recognised under UK law.

At a recent GBLT rally in the UK there was a protest against the introduction of this character into the programme and against the DJ in question.

I have posted a number of links below for those who may wish to read more. The BBC's response can also be found here.
