Don't worry, neither are any of those other people who are under the delusion they are. 

I would think a good job for you is one you can do well and don't mind doing.  Where you do it is a more important consideration for transpersons then what it is your doing.

No kidding!  It's brutal out there in the IT market ... worldwide!  It'll turn around again but it's going to be a slow and painful recovery.  If I get the bullet, I think I'll use the opportunity to change direction completely.

True here in Philly, too, but it helps a bit if you work for a university. I could get all philosophical on this and say which would you rather have:

1) a $50k job for 20 years with little chance of getting cut
2) a $100k job for 10 years and being unemployed for the last 10 and getting all depressed which would cause you to age more (not good for a transwoman's complexion)

The numbers are theoretical. I opt for 1.

MY JOB WAS 90% PUBLIC CONTACT. However ,I worked with people on public assistance and since generally they are seen as "throw away" people, the powers that be aren't so picky about how caseworkers dress except for court.
