I think I made another mistake

I will make posts in forums but when I hit "Show new replies to your posts." they don't show up even when I find out the have new replies when I hit

"Show unread posts since last visit."  what did I do wrong this time?

If you have already viewed a topic, it won't show up on the new replies until another reply has been made, same if you click "mark as read"

I looked at your settings, you have a LOT of boards on your ignore list, which is self explanatory, you won't see those posts at all.

I found at least one with replies that did not show up on that list

Go into your profile, hover over "Modify Profile" and then choose "Ignore Topics Options".

Are any of the threads which aren't showing up on that list?

no - it was not one of those it was a new on and the weird thing is soem others are showing up, so some are and some are not, it seems random
