My spouse and I were discussing the thought of me being transgender (as I told her I was pretty sure I was a few months ago) she hasn't really accepted it but has said she supports me experimenting to find out what I really feel inside. (ie. Getting dressed, wearing makeup that I want, etc.) anywho.... Whenever we discuss it she always says "I know your a guy" I decided to ask her how she knows, her response was "you can't be a girl, you like Star Trek & Star Wars". There it is everyone, now there is an easy way to tell if you're a woman or a man....

Anyways.... I know this is just her trying to hold on to what normalacy we had prior and I wish I could give that to her. I guess there's a small chance I could get femmed up, look in the mirror and decide "what was I thinking! I guess I really am a man." but it's not what I feel right now. I do ask myself what I was thinking, but it mainly has to do with ripping everything that was solid for her away as well as the thought of what effects/influences this will have on my young children (both in elementary school, my adult child I think will just decide to accept me or not but not effect him like it could the other two). Time will tell..... Venting done lol

I like science fiction but could care less about sports. Likes are likes, they fall where they may on an individual basis. Doesn't prove gender. Only you can know your gender.
There are tests/quizzes out there but for me the results are all over the map and in the end didn't sway how I feel one way or the other. I guess we all want objective outside validation.
Again for that doesn't matter. What matters is how YOU feel, and that is complicated enough.

Maybe you could turn it into a good natured tease. Does she like something traditionally male? Just smile at her and say, "Well you like xyz, so you must be a guy."
I suspect your kids are more likely to adjust at their ages. Middle school is the time when kids are way too self conscious and more likely to have a harder time.

My wife is cis and LOVES Star Trek (all series) and Star Wars.

I was watching a home improvement show yesterday when my wife came in and said "You can't actually like all that construction stuff anymore, huh?"

Then the comercial ends and the show comes back on. Good Bones on HGTV. Both women with sledghammers in hand knocking down a wall.

I said, "Tell that to them."

My wife and I love sci fi shows. My mother is a huge sports fan.
These type of stereotypes just don't work.

Wait, what if you only like one...? I mean, I like Star Trek but not Star Wars. Am I just half a man, then?
Also, yeah, I've heard the same in reverse (i.e., "you like xyz so you're really a girl"), and it never ceases to be annoying. The most you can do is just call her out on her sexism, I guess.
