Body camera catches Norfolk Police making racist and transphobic comments

Bodycam accidentally left recording captured four damning hours inside police station.

A woman protesting that a man should have been charged with killing a pigeon recorded a police officer admitting that she illegally stops and searches black women.

Gemma Barnes, 36, went to Bethel Street Police Station in Norwich on January 14, 2023, to deliver a petition calling for the man to be charged.

She and other protesters were 'pushed out' of the station leading to her being arrested after challenging an officer she said pushed her into a busy road.

Gemma's body camera was confiscated, but police did not realise that it was still recording.

Over the next four hours, it captured one female police officer saying: 'I illegally stop, search IC3 (black) females and then I arrest them.'

In one section, a police officer can be heard talking about a massage parlour.

He said: 'I got there, what I find a bit strange is that each room has like a card reader in it.'

Another officer asked: 'Where is this.'

He responded: 'The Chinese well-being place, it does happy endings.'

He was asked whether he received hand stimulation and he replied: 'pretty much, yeah.'

Someone responded: 'Honestly though, I'm going back outside of work hours.'
