Dr. Maxwell Anderson passes away

I have just received word that my therapist, Dr Maxwell Anderson, has passed away this afternoon. Dr Max, was a transman who had been serving the community, as well as being a part of the community for many years. His hand and heart have reached out to and touched countless people and will be sorely missed.

News came to me through a friend of Max's who notified the trans community here in Atlanta, GA.

Hi everyone,

I am writing in regards to Maxwell. As many of you know, Max has been in Hospice for the past few weeks battling an inoperable brain tumor. It was found approximately 3.5 weeks ago and has been growing quite quickly since then. Suzie, Max's sister flew down from Chicago and has been with him for the past week or so and many many visitors went by to see him. I last saw him two weeks ago and we were able to spend some time talking. The one thing he did tell me before I left was to tell everyone how much he appreciated them, their friendship, and their love. We shared a few laughs, a few tears, a few quiet moments. The awesome thing about it was how at peace he was with himself.

Max passed away a few hours ago (around 3:00pm 1/14/2010). I am unsure at this time as to any plans that are going to be in place for a service, but did want to inform you as to his passing. I, personally, am glad that he is in a much more peaceful place now.

I will send out another email as soon as I know of any plans. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at xxxxxxxxxx, but please know that I don't have much more information than this at this moment.

I am sorry to hear that he has passed.  I wasn't going to say it before, but I have never heard of any one coming out of Hospice.

I hope you are doing well, because I remember that you were a patient.

I just found this video. This is Maxwell's farewell to friends, family, patients, anyone who knew him or wish they did. It is hard to watch, very sad and emotional.

It is so sad to hear a dying person's last words.  They speak the truth and you can tell that they wish they had more time.

Moral of the story, life your life to the fullest and be all you can be.
