How long after til u lifted your arms up?

Hey guys,

im now 4weeks post-op.  Im starting to raise my arms a little but it still feels quite tight.  Im not rushing it but i was interested in how long after surgery til u started to raise your arms overhead?  Did you find it difficult at first?  Did any of you leave it a bit late that you developed some kind of problems with range of movement?
At the moment i can just get my arms to be directly parallel to the floor without it feeling too tight.

Hey josh, i'm 1 day post op and my biggest movement issue right now is standing straight up.  I feel like im about to rip in half if i'm not hunched over, did you have anything like this?

Firstly congratz on the op!

Yea, i definitly felt like you did.  I thought if I stood up straight the bandages would pull my nipples of and rip my scars open.  It was like that for awhile.  Even when I got my bandages removed a week later, I was still very conscious about how straight i could stand up as the scars were still a bit tight.  But it eases up around a week or so, then its arm movement 😛  But trust me, the recovery time goes so quickly.  It doesnt even feel like i was in the states 3weeks ago and its already been one month!

I waited a full 6 weeks, and even then I took it slow and easy until about 8 weeks post-op. Even now, 10 weeks post-op, I'm working through the stiffness of having kept my arms down for so long, and of course my upper body muscles are so weak from lack of use. But that paid off, my scars have minimal stretching, and I'll be able to recondition my muscles in no time.

I'm 3 months post op now. I tried not to raise my arms above my head until about 6 weeks. I just wanted to play it safe and not risk stretching my scars.  but everything really started to loosen up around the 3-4 week mark, thats also when i was able to stand up straight.

:S i've started to raise my arms above my head now and can just about get them straight up and im 2days off being 5weeks post-op. hope i havn't ruined anything!  I was worried about leaving it too late and it would be harder to stretch.  i thinnk i will stop and restrict my movement...fingers crossed
