It would seem to me that in order for their to be gender one must define a difference between male and female or masculine and feminine. But then I begin to think that masculine and feminine might be best to be referred to as left and right, thus without body associations. That is to say I see no reason that there be the idea that particular natures such as femininity or masculinity be associated with being male or female. such that then the only difference between a male and female is a physical definition. So is there an actual need that gender be feminine and body be female?
Further what do you think:
What defines female?
What defines Male?
What defines Feminine?
What defines Masculine?
Should we polarize and differentiate either way?
What function does differentiating have?
