OK I know it isn't about gender but:

I don't know how many of you heard this. It was in this story re: this ad campaign that may ( or may not have been stopped) that was going to trash Obama.

What I thought was interesting was the "metrosexual" thing. I am pretty sure that they didn't know this does not at all mean homosexual. I think they wanted to suggest something vaguely homosexual though. You know he's bad because he is sort of vaguely homosexual-ish.

(Don't really want to get into the rest of the politics.)

I think in a lot of people's minds, Metrosexual is a code word for someone who's not a "real man" in the macho sense that emphasizes traditional roles for manhood.

I think a lot of people are scared that the world is "changing" and they're going to have to change with it. That acceptance of transgender, gay marriage, even going all the way back to feminism, is going to devalue their place in the world. The whole anti- side of the gay marriage debate seems almost totally based on fear. Here in Maryland we're gearing up to vote on gay marriage (after the legislature approved it) so it's been getting a lot of press this year.

As for Mr. Obama, they've been lying about him since the start. They called him an alien (not born in US), a muslim (not an insult, but not true about him) a socialist and probably a bunch of other stuff I'd have heard if listened to the right radio stations.

Don't want to get too political either - only makes enemies - but I don't especially like to listen to lies.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

It always helps to include a link, otherwise this might just be rumor-mongering.

Definitely not a rumor. However this also shows the context.

I think the Abe Lincoln would trump the metrosexual anyway.  ;)

That's good. I put images in my head virtually anytime, that's just the way my brain works. And I am getting a pretty weird image here. I've got Abe Lincoln (who is so anti-metrosexual as he can be) in his tall hat all tanned and coiffed.  :D
