Just brought my first garter belt and...

...Wow! No kidding, it's so much sexier to wear stockings with one than just a pair of hold-up stockings (even though a pair of lace top hold-ups are *very* sexy as well). I definitely fell in love with them. Though women don't actually wear one on a regular basis, do they? It seems like a lot of pain to get those back straps hooked up, heh. I wonder how much experience will help. (I definitely can't wait until I can afford to start buying a full set of women's clothes and go out, but for now posing for myself in lingerie when alone is a lot of fun!)

P.S. The clerk thought I was shopping for a plus-size girlfriend, of course, and kept trying to foist off a more expensive garter belt on me - I went for the cheapest one. She told me the more expensive one was 'prettier' (which I disagreed with, I didn't have strong opinions really but the one I got seemed just fine aside from being like 66% the price of the other one) - by the end of it, I'm pretty sure she was thinking I'm a cheapskate who doesn't care to invest a little bit of extra for his girlfriend. Shopping as a crossdresser is almost as fun as the actual crossdressing - whether you're telling someone that you're buying the clothes for yourself, or pretending you're buying it for your girlfriend while thinking of clever ways to spin the reality in through half-truths, there's a lot of amusement in interacting with store clerks, I find. 🙂

I love to wear a garter/suspender belt with sheer stockings. Contrary to popular belief they are really comfortable, but with the odd strap tug to keep you aware of your sexy underwear!

I find that for all day comfort you need to wear a really deep elasticated belt (4 or more bra clasps deep), so that it fits a bit like a corset. It's a bit like wearing a bra: when you first put one on it feels tight, but you come to appreciate the snug support of a firm garment with deep side panels.

You should look for belts with 3 or more straps per side, and with metal clasps. More flimsy belts are for the bedroom only, not for all day wear.

The rear suspenders should be attached first. Swing your belt to the front a bit, likewise your stocking top. Fasten the clasp then swing both to the rear. Repeat for the other leg. The idea is to get your rear suspenders sitting tight over your bum!

I find that stockings with plain tops are easier to attach than those with pretty lacy tops. I wear a garter belt with sheer nude stockings, barely black stockings and fishnets, but I have never tried seamed stockings as it might be difficult to get the seams straight.

While running outdoors, I wear elastic bands to hold up my thigh-high socks. I purchased them from ebay.com.



This item is the best one among elastic bands I have purchased.

Yes. Sometimes I do wear garter belt, but the elastic band is more solid to hold up the socks.



I also have various suspender stockings, but it is a little bit tricky to put on them, as they are easily twisted.



And, above all, a decent woman would not reveal the belts.

I love to wear stockings,it definitely makes me feel sexy as well as act sexy.it's very much a load of fun.when I was 17 I had a flight attendant uniform and would strut all along the hallways of my home.I love to wear uniforms and cocktail dresses.i remember getting thigh highs from V'S and them not comparing to my no nonsense pantyhose.don't worry too much about where you get your clothes I often end up buying most of my women's clothing online.it really is easy and fun but sometimes can be a real struggle to find the right piece and the right size.I've been searching for a certain style of slingbacks from the early 90's.and still have not found the dream pair.but I keep positive and know someday I'll find a sexy pair.expensive or not as long as the garter makes you feel sexy,then wear em out and buy another.I can't imagine how many pairs of nude and suntan pantyhose I used to have.gosh I miss the smell of my old lingerie drawer.

The uniform I pieced together after finding the proper scarf.suntan pantyhose and 3 inch heels.it was my first complete outfit.before that it was a pair of silk thigh highs and some open toe flats.that was actually what I would wear to sleep.and the smell I was referring to was that of the nylon material and nothing more.so I don't like putting my nose in strange places with less than pleasant smells.but as of recent I have been buying "slutty"dresses and some business secretary attire.but it's almost all for nothing because I still can't do my makeup proper.so if I'm trying to impress someone I need help with the makeup.but I like being a female more than any other part of transformation.the silky satins and patent leather.pointy heels.i love it.

Absolutely one of my favorite things to wear. I agree you need at least 3 straps per side. There is nothing like the feel of the tug against my bottom.

Am I the only one who puts on her panties after her garter belt and stockings?  It's a lot more practical as you can get your panties off quickly and easily.

Most born women put on their panties after the garter belt. Otherwise it would be a pain in the @$$ to go to the bathroom!! I miss wearing stockings but my thighs are so wide that the stocking tops would bind up and rub my thighs raw. Maybe one day if I lose a lot of weight. One thing I used to do was attach the back straps to the stockings and then put them on and then fasten the front two straps. Its a heck a lot easier than trying to attach those back straps while wearing the garter belt!!

I put my panties on after my garter. Just easier to go to the bathroom that way and I enjoy wearing tap pant style panties and it works better for that.

I think this whole panties under the garter belt thing came about due to the bedroom style garter belt and panty sets that one would wear for a short period of time until a sexual encounter in which time one probably wouldn't have to go to the bathroom. The manufacturers show these belts over the panties because it looks better in a picture to sell them. I think this is how many women (and some men) think that garter belts would be worn over the panties. But anyone who wears traditional stockings on a regular basis all day will tell you its panties over the garters for everyday wear.

Garter belts and stockings are super sexy and fun to wear.  I agree panties on the outside, way more practical.  The tug all day from the garter straps is a nice reminder you have them on.  Don't get me wrong, I love a good silky pair of pantyhose too... but there are times where a garter and stockings are perfect for the occasion.

Has anyone tried them with french knickers? The loose silky material brushing against you in combination with the feel of the straps and stockings is pretty erotic. Only tried it a few times but I felt really sexy all day.

Ah i was confused but now i understand that our American friends call Garter belts suspender belts'
In the UK a Garter belt is an item that holds each stocking up seperatly, like a fancy elastic band

I love the feel of the straps on your bare leg, either from a garter belt or corset. You can even do this in drab.

Panties over garters. Otherwise you need to undo to lower your panties.

I find putting them on I do best standing up, putting my leg onto the bed, and doing the back one first. And you want the metal clasps.  I like the straps tight, I think the tension makes them less likely to slip. I hate a flopping strap.
