Quote from: Lori Dee on October 31, 2025, 04:12:06 PMIs that bank on a dimmer? I don't think a loose connection will do that. I have a voltmeter, and we can check the light socket and make sure the right voltage is getting there.

That bank of lights is not on a dimmer, unless there's a third switch somewhere. I've never seen a house with so many light switches. I think when this house was built someone had a sale on light switches and they decided to use every switch they could get. Some are 'on/off', some are dimmers, some are dimmers with separate 'on/off' functionality, and there's even a few multi-position switches for ceiling fans. Like programming a VCR, we need a four-year-old to figure them all out for us.

Some LED bulbs are not dimmable. Is it possible there is a mismatch? Like a dimmable LED in a non-dim circuit?

All of the lights I installed are 'dimmable'.

Lori and I discussed the issue via text messages. There seems to be something odd going on that doesn't make sense to either one of us. I'll try swapping out some lights to see if it makes any difference. Maybe one of them has a weird fault that's causing the issue. I've worked with electronics long enough to have proved 'Murphy's Law' on countless occasions. I will certainly not be going into the attic to chase the wiring! It will probably be best just to get an electrician out here.

My tooth is still quite sensitive. Any pressure at all is extremely painful. I'll have to stay on soft foods for a few days.

I may need to get some low voltage lighting for the stairs to the front door. Unless there is a full moon, there is no lighting on them at all. We do have an outdoor plug not too far away from the stairs, so it wouldn't be too difficult to set up. I have some solar lights on the stairs now, but they are not very bright.

Sending you a massive hug free of charge, Jess. Sounds like you've been through the ringer, honey. *monster hugs*

Thanks for the hug Sephirah, I really needed it.

I went back to the dentist on 6 Nov, they needed to do a little more prep work on my tooth. They made a new temporary crown, which fell off as soon as I got home. I called their office that night. They returned my call the next morning and asked if it was causing any discomfort. Since it wasn't, they said just to wait for the permanent crown. The permanent crown should arrive on 24 Nov.

I did start exercising again. I'm using a Peloton bike a friend gave me. He said his wife wanted it, but she never used it, so now it's ours. We have a Schwinn exercise bike as well. The Schwinn can't be adjusted to fit me properly, but the Peloton can be adjusted for taller people. I swapped out the clip-in pedals for some standard 'flat' pedals, and I added a more comfortable saddle. Now I can eat a few extra cookies.

I had another one hour electrolysis appointment with Kris last Thursday. We discussed possibly changing my visits to one Saturday a month. She could put in 3 - 4 hours of electrolysis, we could go out for lunch, then we could visit the local firing range.

I had to do some mainframe IT work yesterday evening (Saturday). We replaced some database monitoring software with a similar product from a different vendor. The products are mutually exclusive -- they can't both be running on the same system at the same time or some sort of universe ending cataclysm could occur. I think all vendors say that. It has been running in our Development environment for months without issue. Unfortunately, we could not start it in our Production environment for validation ahead of time. I was somewhat apprehensive about the change, but I had requested the vendor to be online with us during the implementation. I think we were all shocked when it started perfectly on every system.

The light fixture in one of the primary bedroom closets was fluorescent, and it hummed when I turned it on. Today, I replaced it with an equivalent sized LED fixture. Working with a 4ft long light fixture in an enclosed area with 10ft ceilings is not fun. My shoulders are going to be complaining for days.

We got some great news today! For the first time in many years, both of our daughters are planning to visit us for Christmas. They are trying to coordinate their flights so they can travel to and from the airport together.
