Quote from: Jessica_Rose on April 19, 2026, 04:56:46 PMSusan and I are packing for our trip. @Lori Dee  will be taking care of our plants while we're gone. The current weather forecast along our route (about 4000 miles) does not include any strong storms or snow. Our longest day on the road should be less than 9.5 hours. This will be the first long trip we've taken since moving last September. We plan to leave Monday afternoon.

Love always -- Jessica Rose
4000 miles? That's around 6 times the length of the UK! That sort of a road trip just doesn't compute in my tiny brain! Where you going?

Our first stop will be in Louisiana. We're going to withdraw most of the funds from the estate account and get it to the other beneficiaries. Next, we're heading back to Arkansas to visit a friend. The third stop is a nephew's house in Georgia, I'm giving him a few of the items his late father gave me. After that, we're going to visit a daughter in Wisconsin. The next stop is back in Arkansas for a few medical appointments. I haven't looked for doctors in Colorado yet, and I don't want any issues to sneak up on me! After those appointments, we'll go home to Colorado. Due to my daughter's schedule, there wasn't enough time to do everything I wanted during our initial stop in Arkansas.

The U.S. is much more spread out than people realize, While there are some areas with extremely high population densities, there are areas in the west where you may not meet another car on the road for a hundred miles.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

I have driven coast to coast, from Bayonne, New Jersey, to San Francisco, California. I took a week so I could make plenty of stops along the way sightseeing and visiting family.

Northern Star Girl

I travel once or maybe twice a year to go visit my parents in far eastern Montana at my family home near the small ranch town of Glendive.

After I fly from Alaska to Seattle to see my specialists doctor I then take the long drive on Interstate 90 heading East across Washington State, across the panhandle of Northern Idaho and then across the entire state of Montana to Glendive... about 1100+ miles road trip.  The good news is that in the long stretches of I-90 through mostly empty Montana, the speed limit is 80 miles per hour.

I bet that's a beautiful trip Danielle. When I go up to Scotland on holiday I only do about 380 miles there back. That's reasonably long distance for people in the UK. The longest journey I ever did was driving to to Amsterdam but that was only 430 mile return trip (not counting the distance across the North sea of course)! The numbers you guys are doing is mind boggling.

This is probably not the place to ask the question as it's Jessica's blog but why did you move to Alaska from Montana when you are self employed anyway? Did you just fancy it?
