I had that procedure December 11, 2017 along with a trachea shave.
The procedure involves shaving the front of the thyroid cartledge and the aft of the cricoid. Then removing the material between the two. Then pushing the thyroid behind the cricoid cartledges. A trachea shave is done as needed as part of the process. Then the two cartledges are drilled and sutured.
The operation was a success and I have seen the doctor twice since the operation and I will see him again. The doctor said the operation is only part of the process and training is important. In between now and then I will see his voice team which is a voice pathologist and singing coach.
In essence my lower registry is gone. I am at 170 Hz . If I raise my pitch slightly it goes to falsetto. I see his voice team Tuesday. If after several sessions I so not see progress then I will go for a glottoplasty.
Has anyone experienced a vocal procedure where your voice is raised by the operation but raising it just a little you go to falsetto. Just a very very slight amount goes to falsetto. I go form 170 hz to 230 hz but it sounds to me to be falsetto.
My vocal folds were not touched it just reconfigured my cartledges.
