When you get it done (the caravan, not your hand), I would love to see pics of the build!
You'll have to christen it with a crafty name, like "Davina's Love Shack".  ;D

Sorry to hear about your hand. I always seam to cut or pinch myself whenever working. I always say the gods require a blood sacrifice. So frustrating! The caravan will be worth it though. Sounds like fun.

Quote from: davina61 on August 23, 2025, 01:08:43 PMHad to go and buy more materials, still that should be about it apart from some floor covering. Almost finished the building bit, should be done tomorrow and start painting. Slipped with the drill with a screw bit in it and took a good chunk out the side of my left thumb, mechanics plaster on it. That is a strip plaster wrapped in electrical tape!

Oh my.  I hope it is okay and not infected.

Well its got a vinyl roof cover and 2 coats of paint all by 3pm . I was cream crackered by then, TBH waiting for the paint to dry before doing any more. Filling the car up with boxes and bags of rubbish from the workshop, mums and my garage at home for a skip run Wed morning. Now do I eat the rest of that Keema and veg or do I cook steak, chips, mushrooms, peas and tomatoes for dinner?

That makes sense. I always forget about time zone differences. Sometimes I get to chatting with Sarah B, thinking the time is the same, and then she will remind me it is 3 a.m. her time and she needs to go to bed.  ;D

Chunky chips (fries) cooked on low it the air fryer for 10 mins coated in olive oil then steak put on top at 200C for 15mins. Turned over 1/2 way through and chips moved to side and checked with 3mins to go and was cooked. Meanwhile mushrooms and garlic in olive oil it pan, sliced tomato added and peas in microwave. Good shake of salt on chips and that was a great meal!!
Car is filled to the rafters with rubbish from mums, my workshop and garage at home. A lot of cardboard boxes flattened and slid in over the rest. Started to dissemble the Ford front clip for the Herferod build, a lot of the bolts came undone okay but the top damper bolts are seized in the bush. I cut the springs to take tension out and need to cut lower damper mounts but ran out of blade, forgot to put new disc in with the tools. Hope local hardware shop has one to save driving all the way to my workshop. Skips are open must go and empty car!!

My dodgy ankle was playing up the night before, yesterday morning I could hardly stand on it but doing some standing on tip toe exercises helped and then standing on it and twisting made something clonk into place. Now just the normal ache, good job as there were lots of steps to climb to throw the stuff into different skips that are a good 8ft deep. Managed to get a disc but battery went flat before I could finish cutting so it was a trip to the workshop to charge and pick up the other one, sorted some stuff out while I was there as found some curtains from my old camper, a mirror and the light. Came back and cut the subframe in 1/2 to get it in my car and loaded the wheels to go to the scrap yard. Sorted another car load to go to the skips, that will have to be Sat morning as by now I was worn out, it was 2pm and I needed some lunch. Sardine sandwich, tomatoes and a cup of tea followed by a nap sorted me out. Right wrist is giving me grief now from the grinder, that was a lot of cutting but its shopping today and I might be going on a shopping trip with the girls from the hot rod club Fri.

Well myself and  Celena met up with Katie in town over a cuppa. Then we hit the charity shops, found some shoes and some checked shirt/blouse. Also a nice top with small flower print, we were looking for dungarees but never found any.I got some new gear, nice jacket with "leather" collar that looks 50s hot rod style. Pair of denim jeans ,wide leg, high waist with turn ups. The girls got some denim "jump suits" each and I was getting one but largest size was a 14 (I need 20!) , its a new range and they are out of stock on line as well. Plan was we all match for the Hot Rod drags, I have it on wish on their web site. Found a short cardigan in a marron that will go with the outfits. All set to be the Roadster ladies (eat your heart out Pink Ladies!!). We ended up back at the first place and had a bottle of Prosecco between us then walked to the car park where Nick picked us up. We had a great time, tired but happy . BTW the girls also bought loads as well!!   Celena found some new dungarees on E bay second hand but never worn so just got them.
