Quote from: davina61 on December 13, 2025, 07:48:09 AMThat didnt take long, got what I needed and it only took 1 1/4 hrs to drive to town , fill with fuel and do food shop . Suitcase empty, washing on and had a nice sit down before I start cooking dinner. Lamb and spinach curry as there was a big bag of spinach with a reduced price sticker on it!!

Bargains are always nice to receive.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Still snotty today, glasses feel heavy on my nose but so far my throat has got better. Need to do some food shop tomorrow and buy some bottles of wine/ rum for my kids, the ex (cheap rose!!) and my uncle and aunty. Not sure what to get my sister yet, grand kids will get money so they can get what they want.
Ran out of bread so might try some air fryer buns, will give me something to do anyway!

Made a loaf, its okay. Feeling better and wrapped some prezzies, bored to tears though! Put Nigella cooks Christmas on, when will they use ingredients everybody has? Just put a shot of Bourbon in this sauce! yes like everyone has a bottle lying about, double cream, just a spoon full .No chance as I would have to throw the rest away. Its about time they made a cooking program with simple every day store stuff.

I saw a post like this once. It was a cooking show, and they were going to do easy everyday recipes.

It starts pretty tame, then the next step says:

Now, milk your goat and set aside 1 cup of fresh milk.

WHAT?

Mum got me a new Indian cook book for Christmas when we were away last week, its written by a professional chef. Had a flick through and some of the recipes are way to involved for me to make, only got it as it says simple bowl recipes!!!
Cold has turned to a slight dry cough, cough mixture on my shop list today. Hope I can beat the forecast rain and get my patches from chemist on way home, also need some Olbas oil to help clear my sinuses.

Oh well the rain beat me and I had to park a good way from chemist, had a bag of bottles to carry up the stairs as well as my food shop. Flaked out on the sofa after eating lunch, felt a lot better after my kip. Cooked pistachio yogurt chicken for dinner, bit shy on the amount of pistachios it said but it tastes okay. That flaked me out again, this cold thing has taken my energy.

When I get like that, I take a nice hot soak in the tub or shower. It helps raise your body temperature, like a fever, but without your body needing to use its own energy to do it.

Hope you feel better soon!

I agree, Lori, the hot soak also makes all the muscles that knot up with the cold relax and clears the sinuses too!

Maybe a very spicy curry...?

Feel better, Davina!

Went down the workshop, lots of fresh air and I feel a lot better. Also fitting the fuel tank cheered my up! There is a picture of the Austin Countryman taken at the camp site at the Super Nats in the Gasser mag this month, not got my copy yet. Still have presents and cards to do before Sun for the kids, will drop them off with the ex as she will see them.

I was feeling so much better yesterday than I have for a while, brain working better. Woke early this morning and no chance of going back to sleep as brain in overdrive. I know I will "crash" after this sometime but making the best off it.
Cold foggy morning, clear sky and its 9 or 10C today, more fabricating and welding to do. In fact I recon I have a good weeks worth of just welding together the panels that are just tacked together. Need a new welding helmet as cant find new screens for the one I have, I cut down a new one to fit yesterday and now I can see what I am welding!!

Glad you're feeling better although get what you mean about waking up early in overdrive. Hope you make some progress on that welding and sure that'll tire you out.

Glad you are feeling better!

Gotta protect those eyes. When I was in high school, I burned my eyes from a welding flash. I worked in a welding shop and was holding a pipe for my stepdad while he welded it... and I watched.

That night, my eyes felt like someone rubbed rock salt in them. I went to the bathtub and stuck my face under the faucet, and ran cold water over my face to cool them off. The noise woke my mom and stepdad, and they came in to see what I was doing. He looked at my eyes and said, "But it is so pretty to watch, isn't it?"

I had scar tissue on my retina for many years after that, but eventually it cleared up. I learned a valuable lesson from that.

Glad you are feeling better, Davina!  Welding is an interesting way to keep your hands warm.

Yes the welding gloves keep your hands warm! we they do once they have warmed up as it was still icy when I drove to the workshop. My welding helmet has a clear screen but turns dark powered by the UV light from the weld ,that is okay unless some thing gets in the way of the solar panel. Never had arc eye but have got the odd flash at times.
