Davina's diary vol 3, life goes on... continued

Did some small jobs on the Herferod and popped back to mums lunch time, my sister was coming over and needed to sort some stuff with her. Did a small bit of gardening but it was hot, chopped down some weeds(Michaelmas daises, they spread like weeds)and hope to dig the roots out tomorrow. Picked another dish of tomatoes and a handful of beans that my sister had ,I put some tomatoes in the bag whether she wanted them or not.
  Used some of mums very small tomatoes to make a pasta dish and cooked some beef burgers that I chopped up and put in. I also had one burger with cheese and tomato in a wholemeal bun.

I bought a Fiskar's four prong weed puller and extractor.  Although there are similar tools, I really enjoy this one's grabbing capabilities and after extracting, its ability to EJECT the pulled weed into a bucket or elsewhere.  Saves my back and knees.

Managed a few hours of weeding before it got very hot, BIL and his eldest started on the shower so no water. I filled jugs and stuff, sister turned up at 11.45 and I got her to go through the one freezer with me. I had already thrown out some mushrooms that were not dated and looked frozen. Brought salmon and white fish home to make mum a fish pie, also brought some pork steaks, lamb chops and some other bits that had been in there since last year. Found some out of date dates and dried apricots, think there is more stuff to go in the dust bin!
 I wanted to print off my ticket for next week, dash it the printer not working due to new router. It said press wi fi button on printer and wp on router and when light has stopped flashing it will work, well its been flashing for 1.5 hrs and it should have down loaded by now. What is annoying is the printer is plugged into lap top but it has to upload via wi fi.

I sometimes eat Marionberry jam.  They are big in the NW USA, particularly in Oregon.

Shopping all done, both mine and mothers. Got some nice? microwave meals and have the fish pie in the oven. The 2 lamb chops and some cubed lamb have gone with the pack of lamb chops I got today, cut all the bones out and grisly bits (made into stock) off and the cut the meat into strips. Its marinating at the moment so have to cook that in a bit.
 Mum is getting more mobile each day, she managed to lift her arms enough by herself to put them through the arm holes in her top this morning. A blow up cushion and a stool with arms turned up this morning, BIL has fitted the shower tray and head but is waiting for the curtain rail and hand rails to turn up.

I am glad your mom is getting back to more normal living.  The bathroom assists will be helpful.

I never hear of a fish pice, except for Stargazy pie, and I never ate a fish pie.

In the USA, at least for me, other than what we call chicken pot pies, the vast majority of pies I see are fruit, cream, key lime, and in some cases pizza that is called pizza pie.
