Quote from: Petunia on June 27, 2026, 01:27:04 AMListening to you talk about golf Marion makes me wonder how I would go if I went and played dressed pretty.

Can you make golf a social outing rather than a competitive challenge?
I socialize really well with both guys and girls.  It helps that my voice and mannerisms match my outfits.

Though the last time I was paired with a female twosome my consistent ball striking was a bit much for them.  At the turn they said it was OK for me to play ahead of them while they took a short break.  So I joined a twosome of guys and helped them play faster by telling them they were playing too fast!  They looked at the cart screen and noted they were 19 minutes ahead at the 11th tee! I play better when I taken enough practice shots to see that I'm set up properly.  Why rush when there is nobody in sight ahead of us on a hot and humid day?

Guys are pleasantly surprised to see that I can play fast, despite my small size.
I can play with guys on the white tees by keeping the ball on the short grass and using my ball striking skills to quickly move the ball down the fairway. And quickly finishing the hole with my short game skills.

What is unusual is my steady improvement. I've improved my balance, sequencing, and tempo to where I can drive the ball with authority. The ball is going precisely where I aimed, with a very nice forward roll. 😀

I bought some fresh salmon, stuck in back of the top shelf of the refrigerator to keep it cold, and forgot about it until 60 hours after purchase.  It was still good so I broiled it in the wee hours of the morning!  I marinated it for an hour in miso/white wine/mirin which I also used as a post broil baste.

Yesterday I bought fresh butter corn at the local farm stand after visiting the library and reading the Wall Street Journal.

Did you do that alteration yourself?

Happy golfing.

Did you watch the Happy Gilmore movie?

Yes, I watched Happy Gilmore.

I have a 14inch chop  saw to cut graphite shafts and a good sized air compressor to blow grips on and off.
I also have two little lathes and a milling machine to make stuff.  😀

That is nice that you have that gear.  I thought the grips just worked their way down the shaft, like with some twisting downward.  Interesting, that all is.

Do the links get busy on July 4th there, or not, or are they closed to let staff enjoy the holiday?

There are a lot of tee times today.  It may be the brutally hot weather that is more suited to going to the beach with one's family and friends.  My first year with online tee times so I don't know what it was like last year.

I thought of going to the beach but I think it would be better when it isn't so crowded.

Maybe you can squeeze in both activities today!  Or do two rounds of golf and then visit Hole 19 or the snack shop at the clubhouse.

I did not like Happy Gilmore 2 very much.  Not as good as the original.  Caddyshack II was a better sequel than the second Happy Gilmore.

I am busy pruning off the spent blooms of my roses to encourage them to bloom again instead of making seeds for new rose plants.

I read where it can be a good time now to prune roses, not so for many other plants.

Yes, roses respond well to pruning, even in the heat of summer.
The root system of a rose needs to be big enough to support the top growth.
If the new foliage is wilting just prune that off!  Might as well prune off any old or disease canes as well.  The root system will now have a much smaller plant to  support!
