The first tank certainly sounds like it's set up as a gravel filter.

Do all the rocks appear clean?

Gravel filters need cleaning from time to time but you need to be really, really careful of what comes out of them.

Bacteria and legionella do kill

UV light filters work well at killing any bugs coming out,just a thought.

Drink Evian water or other pure bottled water.

That 250 gallon portable tank drive up fill up may also work.  Get a new tank at the house, maybe above ground? that can be plumbed into a faucet for drinking and filled with the drive up tank unless you can easily hookup to that portable tank.  You know what you can or cannot do much better than I do.

I suppose this situation is similar to dry cabins but you do have some water.

This water situation makes a point to be grateful for good flowing wells and city water.
It is just another thing I do not want to take for granted.

  Thanks for all the advise on the well. For now the system works. We wash dishes, do laundry, get showers, and water the horses. Just no watering the lawn or filling swimming pools. As I said it will be a future project. And I will be sure to test the water before drinking any of it! 

  Went on a nice 8.5 mile trail ride yesterday. It had rained the night before, and the trail was slippery. Made for a scary ride as we climbed a 1350 foot mountain with steep drop offs. Met another group of riders, swapped some stories and learned of some new places to ride.

   Had a nice conversation with my son. Since it was fathers day and no call. Added to no Mothers day acknowledgment, I sent a text off to him, "since I'm not your mother and not your father, does that make you not my son?". Phone rings a few minutes later. Anyway, we had a nice conversation about the awkwardness of the whole father/mother thing. It was nice to have a discussion, where we could talk about our feelings. The old 'man", I once was could never talk about feelings.

I know of people who have water brought in tanker trucks to fill pools because it is faster than well water and cheaper than city water (sometimes cities bump up the sewer charges too based on how much water you use.)

In Illinois, I filled a small pool with a garden hose. Then went to city hall and told them I had filled a pool. They came out, checked it, gave me a permit, and waived the sewer charge.

Good, as you did not use the sewer.  Unless perhaps when you drained the pool.

Much like it is for me. I haven't even begun any transition but just by accepting my true identity I can now talk about feelings and enjoy doing it. My affective empathy has also shown itself rather frequently. It is a really nice experience. 🥰
Out since March 5, 2026. Wifey knows since mid April.
Integration ongoing. I'll cross the transition bridge when I get to it.

The empathy, ugh, the empathy. I find myself crying when I think of others. The feelings are over the top, sometimes. I thought my idgaf attitude would protect me but noooo. Transitioning is amazing. 🙂
