Mirrors from the Universe

I walked through shadows to meet her
the woman who lived in me all along.

She stepped out from reflection and into form.

Now I see her in the silhouette I cast,
and strangers call her "pretty lady."

This world is catching up to the truth I live.

She is no longer hidden.

She is here.

And the universe?

It mirrors her back to me.

Reflection: My First Summer as Lilis

There are seasons we live through... and seasons we come alive.

This summer, I stepped into the sun not just as myself, but as Lilis...
the name, the spirit, the truth that waited beneath the surface for nearly half a century.

I dressed as her. Walked as her. Prayed as her. I became her...
Became her not to myself as I already am, but to the World.

There were moments of joy stitched into the hours...

The way the breeze played with my dress...
the water in Astoria Park shimmering like a mirror for my rebirth.

Laughter with Ra, spirit to spirit.

Prayers whispered into the night air, not as begging, but as belonging.

I prayed with Christ, my Lord of light and mercy.

I danced with Mother Lilith, my protector in the dark, my fire, my fierce feminine guide.

Together, they hold me.

This summer hasn't just been a change in weather.

It has been my Exodus, not out of a country, but out of hiding.

And in that walking-out, I found joy.

Joy that tastes like freedom and smells like sunlight on skin.

"Becoming"

I was born beneath a borrowed name,
stitched in shadows, hushed in shame.
But threads unravel, threads unbind—
and now I sew myself, redefined.

Not a boy, not a lie, not a phase to outlast,
but a river that knows how to outflow the past.
Every ripple, a whisper, "You've always been you."
No permission was needed to blossom and bloom.

I am the architect of my own skin,
each step, each breath, I choose to begin.
Not a mask, not a costume, not some masquerade—
but a woman whose essence can never be swayed.

Acceptance is not a gift to be sought,
but a mirror reflecting the battles I've fought.
And every reflection, every glance, every sigh—
is a canvas where Noelle will always reply:

"I was never a secret.
I was never erased.
I was always becoming—
at my own sacred pace."

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take
but rather the moments that TAKE your breath.

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you."

The famous quote capturing the idea that not forgiving imprisons you is:
"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you."

This powerful line is attributed to theologian and author Lewis B. Smedes, emphasizing
that holding onto unforgiveness chains you to the past pain, while forgiveness releases
you, not necessarily the offender, from that bondage.

Origin: Lewis B. Smedes, a theologian and professor.
Meaning: Holding onto bitterness keeps you captive to the past hurt, making you
your own jailer; forgiveness breaks these self-imposed chains.

Lamentations

Do we have tomorrow? A query less apropos
Since yesterday's ensuing silence
Suffices for a final answer.

And all the things I meant to say
No longer matter to me
And less to you.

Which does not mean I will abridge this
Diatribe madding and futile
In darkest night.

I pledge eternal fealty then swear I will never
Believe again if belief sequesters
No modicum of grace.

Clasped hands, closed eyes disguise despair
Beneath promises of penance
Already broken.

You cannot hear my words
But I speak them
All the same.

There is no tenderness in death,
No closure, nothing final.
Death abides

As immutable silence between
Young lovers and old
Friends alike.

Dances With Trees

This has been a 'Lamia' week for me. One of my most cherished poems.
My two favorite lines are:
"Love in a hut, with water and a crust."
And
"Fool! Fool!' repeated he."
I'm not a literary critic, but I always though John Keats was writing about the loss of illusion. Perhaps, it's more about the dawning of the Scientific Era, when science emptied the world of magic.
Either way, I had one of those weeks.

For Anni:

"Hope" is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson

"Hope" is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I've heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
Natura nihil frustra facit.

Sephirah

The Poet by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

The poet in a golden clime was born,
With golden stars above;
Dower'd with the hate of hate, the scorn of scorn,
The love of love.

He saw thro' life and death, thro' good and ill,
He saw thro' his own soul.
The marvel of the everlasting will,
An open scroll,

Before him lay; with echoing feet he threaded
The secretest walks of fame:
The viewless arrows of his thoughts were headed
And wing'd with flame,

Like Indian reeds blown from his silver tongue,
And of so fierce a flight,
From Calpe unto Caucasus they sung,
Filling with light

And vagrant melodies the winds which bore
Them earthward till they lit;
Then, like the arrow-seeds of the field flower,
The fruitful wit

Cleaving took root, and springing forth anew
Where'er they fell, behold,
Like to the mother plant in semblance, grew
A flower all gold,

And bravely furnish'd all abroad to fling
The winged shafts of truth,
To throng with stately blooms the breathing spring
Of Hope and Youth.

So many minds did gird their orbs with beams,
Tho' one did fling the fire;
Heaven flow'd upon the soul in many dreams
Of high desire.

Thus truth was multiplied on truth, the world
Like one great garden show'd,
And thro' the wreaths of floating dark up-curl'd,
Rare sunrise flow'd.

And Freedom rear'd in that august sunrise
Her beautiful bold brow,
When rites and forms before his burning eyes
Melted like snow.

There was no blood upon her maiden robes
Sunn'd by those orient skies;
But round about the circles of the globes
Of her keen eyes

And in her raiment's hem was traced in flame
WISDOM, a name to shake
All evil dreams of power--a sacred name.
And when she spake,

Her words did gather thunder as they ran,
And as the lightning to the thunder
Which follows it, riving the spirit of man,
Making earth wonder,

So was their meaning to her words. No sword
Of wrath her right arm whirl'd,
But one poor poet's scroll, and with his word
She shook the world.
Natura nihil frustra facit.
