That is understandable.

I read a survey done by a women's magazine back in the 80s that said that when women dress up to go out, 90% of women dress for the other women, not for the men. The implication was that a compliment on our appearance coming from another nice-looking woman is more reaffirming and we hold their opinion in higher esteem.

And as we all know men are pigs and will leer at cartoon characters, so their opinion doesn't really matter.  ;D  (Just kidding. Guys are so adorable when they fall all over themselves).

But a compliment from another woman has a lot of value. I don't think you were fishing for compliments, but it was the same sort of thinking when trying to decide what to wear. At least that's what I think was happening.

Lori,

Yes, I do not have any motivation to fish for compliments.
I politely accept them, but never try to get one.
It is good to look professional when the situation calls for it and this makes it more comfortable for me.  There are situations where you should dress well.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. I do love wearing dresses and skirts. With warmer weather, I'll also soon be wearing a lot of skorts, too. I can't wait!!!
With much love,

Skorts are best. Other wise biker shorts or Spanxs under Skirts.  I'm too heavy for summer dresses.

Sun dress time is just around the corner.

I bought some dress weights that help prevent the dress flaring up in the wind.
I have not used them.  They stick on and can be reused a few times.  They are not heavy.

Of course on a really windy day why not wear shorts or skorts or pants or jeans!

A nice sundress is sometimes just right in this warmer weather.

I still wear pants or jeans or shorts or skorts more though.

I prefer wearing skorts with the flexibility of choosing the proper top for the occasion.
I'll wear a collared top to the golf course.  I'll be more casual when I'm in the yard gardening.

I also enjoy the longer nightgowns.  Depending on the style, they can double as a house dress of sorts.  They provide a nice "flow" as I walk.  That flow is one reason I enjoy wearing the longer dresses too.  All of these are very feminine and affirming.

It is so nice being a woman.   We have so many fashion choices!

I hardly wear pants or shorts anymore these days.  It's dresses, skirts or skorts---and the skorts I have are the ones where its a full skirt with the shorts underneath.

How long after you started wearing feminine clothing did you begin wearing dresses while out and about?

Quote from: Lori Dee on April 06, 2024, 09:48:30 PMI enjoy wearing dresses but never out. I don't have the legs for it. I do enjoy wearing hose or tights in winter, I just don't explore that as often as I would like.

Like you, I have a very hard time finding something that fits. My bestie wants to go thrifting at some resale shops like Plato's Closet or some of the "vintage" clothing resellers. I might do that when I get time.  ;D
I really love your posts! I'm a bit of the opposite of you because I just love my legs and want to show them off. However, wearing dresses outside the house or even in the house with my family is something I rarely do, but I'm working on it! We all want to show off our assets, so maybe a long dress would work better for you? Or wearing boots with a dress which is a really cute look.

What I did for fit is Used AI to tell me what measurements to get and how to measure them. Then I recorded my precise measurements and have used them ever since to purchase clothes that fit. I'm usually a 10 and sometimes an 8 ☺️

I'm still a little nervous about shopping in person, but I'm getting better. I've found eBay to be a treasure trove. I can search for the size and style that I want and get a good deal on it. I love A-line and fit-and-flare dresses because they help my hips.

I do have certain safe places where I can wear a dress. I don't know what I would do without my weekly Genderquest meeting. When I travel away from this redneck city I usually dress, too.

Quote from: Paulie on April 07, 2024, 01:55:57 AMOh how I love dresses, 😔
I love the third places where skirts can be androgynous because where I live skirts are 100% female. Of course, I can use that to my advantage as well.

I don't pass on close inspection. My face looks male. But if I go all out with a wig, breast forms, and a dress or skirt with jewelry and make up, I get called ma'am. I FEEL like myself. I'm treated like a woman. I don't need to pass but I do need to be me.

I'm coming out. Not because I'm brave but because I can hold myself back any longer.

I still don't.

In winter, it is too cold for dresses. In summer, I am out gold mining or rockhounding, so I protect my legs from sharp rocks, cactus needles, and bug bites. Sometimes in the summer, I will lounge around the house in a dress, but not very often.

How interesting! My lifestyle is close and cold is an issue in winter, but my desire to wear feminine things is strong and growing. I am always seeking ways to dress up, safely. Cold? I'm in leggings and a cute top, or a long skirt or long dress (which I find surprisingly warm; I'm always cold).

Interesting too about rock hounding and cactus needles. This year we did not go to the desert. I almost died, skipping a year. The year before the family went, and I took my usual desert clothes. Neutral gender, tough, fun.

I almost died a different death: Lack of Feminine Attire. I've been planning my summer wardrobe so I can do my things and feel like myself. I'm sure after time I can feel like myself regardless of what I wear, but I'm not there yet
