Sarah and Anna, thanks for letting me whine a little bit. It helps to let it out among friends, particularly ones who get it.

My goal is to live life with as much joy as I can and share it with people who share it back, like the people here!

That's not a bad goal at all Emma. You certainly seem to be living to that so far!

Emma, I feel sorry for the position you are in, however I understand and respect your choice as it is what I would do if I end up in the same position.
And then one day you stop to find,
10 years have got behind you,
no one told you when to run,
you missed the starting gun

Dear Emma:
I have been following your story since you joined the Forum 8 years ago in March 2018 and
we had exchanged many comments regarding both of our transition stories.

I am wishing success and happiness for you as you work out the difficulties in your relationships.
    ❤️
Many, many, many HUGS,
Danielle

Sarah, it is so easy to fall into despair for some many reasons.  Everyone has stuff that they are dealing with but you can't let it overwhelm you.  I really believe that joy, even simple ones are all around us.  Sometimes it takes a little work, but it is always worth it.  Whining, briefly, is just a relief valve that we all as friends, listen to in sympathy.

Petunia, I know that it is a compromise, but you are right, I choose it and I can always change the decision. Like all compromises, the decision comes with sacrifices but I feel they are worth it to.  I like laughing with her every day!

Danielle, you helped me from the beginning.  You gave me my first hug here and it meant a lot. You were also a role model because you showed me that I could transition. Thank you for all that and more.  I treasure my relationship with my wife.  I accept that it comes with a cost.  I really appreciate that you all tolerate the occasional whining that happen when the cost of compromising becomes a little painful.  It's good to have the shoulders of a friends.

HUGE HUG TO ALL,

Emma

I think I will "end up" in a similar state as you, Emma.
While I do know what I would want if the choice was free I cannot be totally selfish in this. As long as I feel that I have a choice I will not do things that risk ending my marriage.

Hugs! 💕

Out to self since March 5, 2026. My wife knows it all since June 23.
Integration ongoing. I'll cross the transition bridge when I get to it.
