Finally Anna

Quote from: Anne_lifetrip on Today at 08:38:04 AMThis was just an exercise I did to show all the things that we, as trans people, have to learn, experience, master.
I had a kind of feeling it was...but wanted to ask about it anyway.

Out to self since March 5, 2026. My wife knows it all since June 23.
Integration ongoing. I'll cross the transition bridge when I get to it.

Stottie Girl

@Anne_lifetrip is your course open to mature students lol! I could fancy 4 years studying in Spain ha ha!

You are so right about it all being a steep learning curve, I'm loving every bit of it though.

I would say trans/female safety is a valuable subject that warrants inclusion within the main Semesters!

What about a field trip somewhere?

I have been learning loads about bra theory ha ha!

There are so many factors at play. If you are fully transitioned then maybe a bra fit is a good idea but with a 44 band size you might be best to go to a specialist shop that caters for larger ladies. In the UK the high street version would be Bravisimo but the online brands are things like Curvy Kate, Panache etc. I believe that Rhianna has her own label that caters for larger ladies but don't quote me on that.

You need to work out whether your breasts are close set or wide set (mine are close set, the roots are 1" apart), you need to know what shape yours are (mine are pendulous, if you've had a boob job yours won't be), then you need to learn bra fit theory as the calculators are useless for us trans girls and also for larger girls. Going by the calculators my US bra size is 42 N which is ridiculous!

To work out whether a bra fits, look at the central gore, it should sit flush against your sternum (if it doesn't your cup is too small), then look at the tops of the cups, are you overspilling ie do you have quad boob (cups too small) or do the cups gape anywhere (cups too large)? Then look at the wires to the sides. They should go around to the side and sit just behind your breast tissue. When you put your bra on, lean forward and scoop and swoop the breast tissue forwards so it all sits in the cup. If the wires then dig into your sides the bra cup is too small. Bra cups being too small will cause the band to roll down into a tight rope and dig into your sides. Your ideal bra should be comfortable on the middle hooks, if it is on the tightest hooks you are ready for a size lower. The band should be tight but not constricting. The band carries most of the loading so it needs to be snug, you should be able to pull the band out no more than 1-2 inches.

There is loads more to it than that but that is some of the basics I have learned and it has resulted (finally) in a comfortable supportive bra.

Also, it is highly unlikely that all bras will suit your shape, same as CIS women, there will be some blacklist styles. For me I can't wear balcony bras for example and full cup bras aren't ideal either. My go to styles are plunge, half cup aka balconette, and demi cup.

Also, if you go down a band you usually need to go up a cup size. This is called sister sizing.

I was a 44E but my band is now way too loose (dieting) so I will need to drop to a 42F I think.

Top tip, when you order a bra order two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit!
