@Karen_A
Thank you Karen for your movie suggestion.
Definitely a good movie to put on the list.

I watched this movie several years ago and in many ways it full of sadness but
it also displays many truths regarding the joy of living in the "correct" body.
It is worth watching the entire movie, you don't want to miss the ending.

It is presently #5 on the list.  I Want What I Want (1972)
NOTE: the "LIST" is found on on the very first posting on

Go re-watch the Matrix movies through the lens of being trans and they take on a whole different meaning. Especially since the Wachowskis knew what they wanted to make before they came out. You can't un-see that. The first three, anyway.

For more recent movies...

I saw the TV Glow 🔗 [Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Saw_the_TV_Glow/] I am sure this is based on an identity thing. It's very indie, but very good.

Hi Everyone

Sorry Devlyn I seemed to have missed this one, when you mentioned:

Quote from: Devlyn on July 13, 2025, 05:01:36 AMHow about It's Pat?

Is "It's Pat?" a transgender movie, no it's not.  The film is a comedy built around the deliberately unresolved question of whether its central character, Pat, is male or female.  At no point does the story identify Pat as transgender, transsexual, nonbinary or intersex, nor is Pat's sex ever revealed.

The humour instead comes from the increasingly desperate attempts of other characters to discover the answer while Pat remains completely unconcerned by their curiosity.  Although the film has since been discussed in relation to transgender issues because of its theme of gender ambiguity, it was not written or presented as a story about a transgender character.  Rather, it is an absurd comedy whose central premise is the audience's inability to categorise its protagonist.

However, the underlying theme of the movie, "trying to guess the sex or gender of the person" is relevant to our community.  So I have added it to the main list as well.

Hi Everyone

I was given the following movie by Victoria's Secret and I have added the movie to the list of movies.  The following is a brief note about it:

Yentl is a 1983 American romantic musical drama film co-written, co-produced, directed by and starring American entertainer Barbra Streisand in her directorial debut.  It is based on Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story "Yentl the Yeshiva Boy"[1].

Hi Victoria

Thank you for those four movies.  They have been added to the list.

It should be noted that these films, along with a couple of others such as Victor / Victoria and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, are not strictly transgender films.  However, they explore many of the same themes, experiences and issues that members of our community can relate to.

Keep them coming, please.

Nimona - Netflix 2023

My friend had talked about this movie before. But for one reason or another, I didn't get around to seeing it until last September, when I went out to his place to hang out and go to a Noise show. It was maybe 3 or 4 in the morning, and we were just chillin' after the show.

He brought up the idea of watching something, and he pulled up "Nimona". I had kind of forgotten about us talking about it because current events have turned my head into an absolute mess at times.

You know that standard movie trailer line of "You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll wet yerself"? This pretty much went that way. Well, except that I didn't wet myself. LOL

I don't think I have cried this much watching a film in a bit. Probably since I watched the British made-for-TV-movie "No Child Of Mine" in the 2010s. But, considering the themes in "Nimona", my friend knew that this was going to connect with me and it sure did.

Sarah B

Hi Laura

Thank you for suggesting another transgender movie.  I have it added it to our growing list.  It was interesting to read about it while I was researching it.  I will be watching it later on as I have Netflix!
