How To Cover A 5 O'Clock Shadow Completely (On Any Skin Tone) | MtF Trans Tutorial

I found this quite helpful. You may need to experiment with the corrector tone to find the right shade for you. Skintone varies all over, and can be different under the nose than it is on the chin area. Through experimentation, you can figure out what works on the skin tones of the various areas that you want to cover.

Anything with a bit of an orange tint to it will help. In a pinch you could even use an orange coloured lipstick to rub into the areas then cover with concealer or foundation.

I have found many places recommend orange, but I have found it is too orange for my skin tone. Five o'clock shadow has a blue tint to it. The opposite of blue is red, so that is the direction to go. But the blue tint is VERY subtle, so the red you use must also be. I have found that a very light pink works well, just as you stated for the color corrector, followed by cover-up and foundation. I use very light dabs, then use a cosmetic sponge to rub it in for even coverage.

I have been chastised for recommending lipstick on the face. It works for me. I use Maybelline ColorStay because it slightly stains the skin, so I can use much less of it. What people need to realize is that lipstick is made for the thin skin of the lips, so it contains moisturizers and emollients. If you have oily skin or acne, this would not be good to put on your face. I have dry skin, so it is not an issue for me.

The key is to experiment with different colors, from light red to light orange, to find the blend that looks right for your skin tone. If your tone is cooler (light or pale), try the pink. If your tone is warmer (tan to darker), try the orange. Then adjust from there.

For sure some lipstick on the face can work - red or orange around the upper lip and chin for beard and then red for blusher on the cheeks. It's a cheap hack that works :-)

Absolutely!

And if you are still trying to find the right color, go cheap and get stuff at the dollar store. Then when you find your shade, opt for the better quality products.

If you use an electric shaver, switch to a blade.  A blade will cut it closer, leaving less shadow to cover up.
