The wind is still blowing like crazy! It's like Wyoming out here.
About a week ago, the wind kicked up so much dust that visibility on the interstate was reduced to zero. The result was a 36-car pile-up involving several semi trucks, which resulted in four fatalities.
Today, when we went to the property, we found warning signs posted at that location. A Highway Department truck with flashing lights and flashing signs warning of blowing dust.
We got some work done, but the wind was just miserable to work in.
We are working a large area of exposed bedrock. The way the creek flows when it floods through his land is down over this exposed bedrock. The bedrock has cracks of various widths that run perpendicular to the water flow. That creates natural riffles (like a sluice box) that catch gold flakes.
We have been out there a few times checking the cracks with our metal detectors. Now, we are cleaning out the cracks to recover whatever is trapped in them. Since this is my neighbor's private land, he prefers I not divulge if or how much we discover.
It is 40 acres of ranch land, 30 miles from town. The creek is not visible to his neighbors, so he would prefer not have people on his land when he isn't there to watch.
I am allowed to say, it looks "promising". I wouldn't be there if it were not.
