That rose is lush Lori. Way to early for roses where I am. They are only just putting their new shoots out.

I really like that rose bush. They are mini roses, so only about an inch across. But the bush gets covered with them. I love how it looks when it gets going.

I have a lovely dinky red patio rose. I have popped it into a pot and taken it over to my mums house. Not leaving that! I'm salvaging what I can without making the Garden look like I've obviously raided it. It helps that a lot of the plants were dormant when my buyer viewed the place!

I think I might head over to my favourite nursery on Saturday. It's a lovely place set in the grounds of a 14th century tower house which was used as a gaol in Henry the VIII's day. Now the hall is owned by a lovely family who grow the most amazing variety of plants for sale. Plus you can wander round the mature garden and they have a Gin Gan where a local lady sells home baked cakes on a Saturday. I always try to find something a bit different though it might be a bit too early in the year yet, not for the cake though!

oooohhh, homemade cake.  My wife made carrot cake last week.  I refuse to get on the scales for another week!

I like some of those restaurant freebies you get for your birthday. 

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

We have rain forecasted for this evening with a chance of flurries. Overnight low predicted for 20 - 35F. I hope we don't lose our flowers to frost.

@Emma1017 mentioned the prediction for a Super El Niño. The last four we had here since the 1980s resulted in Denver getting between 70 and 80 inches of snow.

We are in a drought, so we definitely need to build up our snowpack and refill our reservoirs. This past winter, the snowpack was only 10% of normal, and the ski resorts had to close early for the season.

This could be a dry summer. That is good for finding gold that is normally underwater, but it doesn't address fire hazards or drinking water levels.

As someone who shuns all forms of cake... I have to ask a really dumb question. Does carrot cake have any carrot in it?
