OK, time for an August Update.
Back in late May or early June, I must have tweaked my knee.
I have a torn meniscus, and 3 years ago I got a cortisone shot, and the world was right again. In June, I went to see my doctor, and she ordered X-rays. You can't see a meniscus on an X-ray, but an X-ray is required before ordering an MRI.
I got the MRI done here at the local hospital on July 4th. I was so grateful that the technician doesn't do much on the holiday and volunteered for overtime. That got me in sooner.
The MRI revealed the meniscus tear and a cyst sitting next to it. My doctor ordered a surgical consult with an Orthopedic Surgeon in Colorado Springs. The scheduler told me that the soonest they could see me would be in September. I told them to send the consult to the Ortho-Joints department of the local hospital. They have my MRI report and images, so I can get in sooner. I don't want to waste my entire summer sitting around waiting for someone to prescribe treatment.
The Referral Packet is dated 16 July. I waited. And waited.
On Aug 6th, I contacted the VA to find out what is being done. I was told the Referral Packet was done and I should wait 3-5 business days for the surgeon to review it.
On Aug 12th, I contacted the VA again and was told the packet had just been sent out, so to wait 3-5 business days for the surgeon to review it.
On Aug 17th, I contacted the VA again and was told the packet was sent out on the 17th (that day) and to wait 3-5 business days for the surgeon to review it.
On Aug 22, I called the surgeon's office and was told they do not have a referral for me.
On Aug 24, this past Monday, I filed a complaint with the VA Patient Advocates Office. I received a message the next morning (Tuesday) that they had opened a case on this.
It is now Friday, and there has been nothing but silence from the VA and the surgeon's office.
It's a good thing I didn't waste my entire summer sitting around with ice on my knee.
The Property Manager here has said that the new owners of the Mobile Home Park will take over on September 1st and that I have 7 days to clear out the weeds on the back of my lot. This is a 55+ Community. Everyone who lives here is old and/or disabled. And they want us to pull weeds.
I went to Lowe's and got a swing blade and enough weed killer to kill everything for a square mile. Sorry, Mother Earth, but I have tried RoundUp, Ortho, Spectracide, and all the others that claim to kill weeds for a year. This time, I bought a large quantity of Agent Orange, and if that doesn't work, I quit.
Our Maintenance man said they use Land Master, but you need a license to buy and use it. It is very expensive, and the Property Manager says they will charge $75 per hour if they do it. So much for protecting the environment.
So this weekend, I'll be popping hydrocodone like Skittles, swinging a sharp blade at plants, and then spraying poison all over the place. What could possibly go wrong?
Yeah, I think house-hunting is back on my schedule. At least if I own the land and want to grow a crop of tumbleweeds, no one can tell me not to.
