It was taken in 2023. I was trying some new makeup techniques I had learned on YouTube, and four hours later I just stared. I snapped a few pics, and this has been my online pic ever since. I have it here, on my website, and on my books. I have always been told I look younger than my age, but I just try to stay healthier than others in my age group.

That requires good health and a lot of maintenance.

My neighbor texted me earlier:

Neighbor: Whatcha doin?

Me: I'm washing dirt.

Him: That's good. We don't want any dirty dirt here in our desert. What do you do with the dirt that was washed off of the dirt?

Me: I wash it again to be sure I didn't miss anything.

Him: So, you wash the dirt twice. Then what?

Me: I let it dry, then dump it outside.

Him: In the dirt?!?!?

🤣

This sample batch is shaping up pretty well so far.

I found no gold in the 8-mesh screen.

I dumped the 12-mesh screen into my pan, and a speck of gold sat on the edge. It was the only one in the screen, and it wanted to save me some trouble finding it, I guess.



In the 20-mesh screen, I found two pieces.



For reference, a 20-mesh screen has 20 holes per linear inch. So each hole is about 1/20 of an inch in size.

In the 50-mesh screen, the mud is quite heavy, so I am doing it in smaller batches. There is more black sand, mostly iron (hematite and magnetite), making it more difficult to separate the gold from it.

But so far, so good.



I pulled it out of the sand to get a better look at it.



This tiny nugget has an interesting look; almost like a gold rose. This is still the 50-mesh screen, so that is 50 holes per inch, making each hole about 1/50 inch in size.



I still have a ways to go, but so far these are more of the 50-mesh pieces that appeared in the pan.



I haven't even started on the 100-mesh screen or everything smaller that fell into the bucket. Those take a lot of patience because they are so tiny; it is easy to lose them if you're not careful.

I plan to be very careful.

OK, last batch of pics for a while.

I have all the material panned out except for the microscopic dust still in the bucket. That stuff is minus 100-mesh, so slightly bigger than the point of a sewing needle.

I did get a few more pieces out of the 50-mesh screen.

Then I dried it out to get a better look at it.

Then put it on the scale to weigh.

And the final weight is...

0.3 grams.

That is a good sample weight. The stuff is mostly small, but I know how to make it much nicer. Dump it in with about 3.3 grams from previous hauls.

The vial now contains about 3.6 grams. Ain't it purty?  😁

I'm not sure when I will go back to that area. I have a few other spots I would like to check out first. But when I do, I'll bring back a lot more dirt than I did this time!

Might be an AI glitch, I posted a pick of the rear wing on the Herferod on Rods n Sods and it came up as adult content. That is an AI not working properly and a few others have had the same happen.
