Rowling, 60, the Harry Potter author and women's rights activist, wrote on X: "I grew up in an era when mainstream women's magazines told girls they needed to be thinner and prettier. Now mainstream women's magazines tell girls that men are better women than they are."

Glamour said it had chosen to honour nine of the trans community's "most ground-breaking voices" as "trans rights face increasing threat in the UK". It said: "From fashion and music to charity and activism work, these trailblazers work tirelessly to empower, uplift and celebrate trans voices."

In response to Rowling's tweet, the magazine said: "Better luck next year Jo x."

Glamour's cover story criticised "anti-trans pressure groups and right-wing politicians" for pushing "exclusionary policy" relating to trans people's access to lavatories, amenities and support services.

Stonewall and 13 other LGBT charities wrote to Sir Keir Starmer describing the ruling as a "a genuine crisis for the rights, dignity and inclusion of trans people in the UK".

Glamour UK said the trans community faced "rising hate crime and increasingly poor healthcare access for trans adults".

Dear JK:
You got it wrong. It isn't "a message to girls that 'men are better women than they are'. It's that transwomen are better than YOU.

The transgender community, even the entire LGBTQ community, is accepting, loving, caring, and supportive. All of the things that JK Rowling is not.

She just wants to remain relevant. Harry Potter died out 10 years ago. She just won't let go. So she has to create arguments because that's what all people do who get too used to money.

Agreed. It always bothers me when Authors decide they are the authority on this. Richard Morgan is another one. The show "Altered Carbon" is literally a sci fi universe where people wear bodies like "sleeves" via a kind of hard disk implant. Which seems rife for exploring gender identity. Yet he has been just as big an A-hole as Rowling on trans issues. It got cancelled after season 2, because of how much of a douchecanoe he is on social media. There must be something in the water.

Don't pretend to be an authority on things you know nothing about. Leave it to the people dealing with it. Just sayin'.
