I have updated and modernized the Community Terms and Definitions page. The updated definitions provide clearer, more inclusive language around what transgender means as an umbrella term, while also defining related identities, expressions, and cultural gender traditions with accuracy and respect. The goal is to reduce confusion, prevent misuse of terms, and ensure everyone is working from the same shared understanding.
We've also added a dedicated Medical Terms section that explains Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), puberty blockers, and surgical status terms, alongside a clear Medical Privacy Notice. Medical history and transition details are private information and should never be demanded or speculated about unless someone chooses to share them.
The page now includes a consolidated Transphobia section that clearly defines transphobia, hate speech, deadnaming, misgendering, and harmful misinformation. These behaviors are not tolerated on this site and will result in moderation, up to and including bans.
To avoid repeated derailment and "just asking questions" scenarios, we've also documented common harmful tropes and disinformation narratives, with links to reputable external resources explaining why these claims are false and dangerous. These topics are not open for debate here.
This update is about clarity, safety, and consistency — setting expectations up front so our community can remain supportive, respectful, and focused on peer support rather than constant rule enforcement.
