I've been working on my voice recently but noticed in recordings that I have crackles and such like even in my normal registers. Now I'm paying more attention I notice that I clear my throat constantly and often breathe through my mouth as my nose is permenantly feeling tight and partially blocked. Add to this I have pretty nasty sinus headaches every month or so.

I think I'm going to approach a speech therapist to confirm this is an issue and if so I'll have to try and get an ENT referral though at this point I can't exactly pin point the issue.

I'm guessing I'm not alone with this and others must have had similar issues. If so did you manage to resolve them through ENT or speech therapy or both?

I've had sinus problems for many years, and just managed to get to see the ENT consultant and had a few sessions with a physiotherapist. I've learnt many techniques that have helped me, but the most effective has been to use an alkaline nasal douche,(google it). The professional liquids are expensive, but the homemade ones are just as good

For many years, when he was a young man living in California, my dad was a surfer. He noticed that after surfing, he could breathe easier and his sense of smell seemed better. Many years later, while speaking with his doctor, he learned that what he was experiencing was the saltwater cleaning his sinuses. Now, it is referred to as a saline lavage. They have a device called a netty pot that helps do it. My dad just would add a little salt to some warm water and snort it out of the palm of his hand. It is not as effective as a netty pot. It also works for sinus congestion from colds or flu.

Suffering from my sinus/grotty throat thing again, Olbas oil is what I use. A few drops on my pillow help keep it clear at night.

Thanks you for all the information. A couple of things I can try there!

Hopefully can get things a little smoother.
