It never really worked that way for me. Like I didn't start transitioning then decide a point where I would go out looking more feminine. I was already boymoding wearing female outfits often. I guess there were two key points.
First time in a full feminine outfit was at a furry convention. A red number with hello kitty platforms! I did walk wearing this outfit through Resorts world shopping centre from my hotel to the convention. A couple walked past and heard him say "what the f..." to his girlfriend! I was still identifying as male then.
The first time out after accepting myself as female and truely transitioning was going to trans pride in Manchester. I actually wore some makeup (foundation) and a Care bears dress. I got no issues, many compliments including from a hen night group in a bar. They loved it.
In-between all that I was still wearing dresses and HRT was an experiment. To be honest I don't really remember actively deciding to transition. It just kinda happened as something felt right.
